Oven
Now I know that lots of people think a oven is not a good idea in their trailers. I offer this . We just had freshly baked apple crisp with ice cream while camping. Need I say more.

Re: Oven
Thats one thing I really really wish we had--I use a toaster oven when plugged in and my Weber Baby Q when not...

Re: Oven
We have the oven and it is used every time we are camping. It is an easier toaster, using the broiler and a pan under it, we make all our toast at once. I just find lighting it a challenge. Sometimes it takes numerous attempts before it is lit - which is awkward as it requires getting on your knees. There is lost cupboard and drawer space that really is missed. It's always a trade off, but fresh baking or a roasted chicken on a cold day...mmm, need I say more?

Re: Oven
If the oven would covert into a dish washer, I would get one installed tomorrow.

Hi: Devil Dog... All you need is the self cleaning..."covert"...model. Put everything in there and turn it on!!! Otherwise it's back to paper plates and a roaring good campfire. Alf

Re: Oven
I bake either in my BBQ when wanting to bake or roast a chicken or something. It is real easy to bake a pie. Doing up the crust and everything else is usually more than I care to do while camping. Though we always eat good, we tend to keep it simple to save time for other activities.
But, as proven time and time again, for as many people there are that travel with trailers, there are that many ways of doing what works best for them.

Re: Oven
My solution is carrying a large toaster oven. The Crusinart TOB 155 will bake a roast, chicken, 12" pizza, etc. I've even baked blueberry pies in it. Of course I need electricity to use it, but it has the advantage that I can move it outdoors to avoid heating up the trailer.

Re: Oven
In 2010 November we took delivery of a new 19ft it was the second trailer off the line with a oven. My wife uses the oven a lot. We have had ovens in many trailers over the past 30 years. If you furnace stops working the oven will work as a heater. We like fresh baked corn bread and brownies.

Re: Oven
I just bought an Outback oven from MEC, but haven't tried it yet. I'll probably use in outside on the Coleman, but indoors when it's too cold.
I love fresh biscuits in the morning

Re: Oven
Hi Alf, I'm afraid if I put all my dishes in the oven and turn it on clean all the plastic plates would melt.
Not to mention the forks and spoons. Then it would be back to paper...

Excellent point, especially if you don't have A/C to counteract the heat produced.

Re: Oven
we still have our Camp Chef oven that we could still take with us in the hot summer months so we don't heat soak the trailer but for the rest of the time it is nice to not have to pack that around. The other plus is the inside of the trailer smelled like apple crisp for a hour or so it was delightful. Its funny we have found that we are cooking more in the trailer than before and being much more creative with meals.
