Paperwork required on private sale to US resident

Hello, does anyone know what paperwork is required when a US purchaser is buying a used Escape trailer from a Canadian owner? Thanks

Perhaps someone at Escape could help you with what paperwork is needed for import and for registration and titling. I assume a sales contract with stipulated US price is needed, but with a foreign title transfer is a little different that purchasing from the manufacturer since there is no title until it is registered. I suggest the purchaser check with their home DOT for what records they need.

Thanks, we did ask Escape but because they deal with customs as a manufacturer they weren't too sure it would be the same for an individual. Good advice re going to local DOT.

See post 9 of this thread. DMV is looking for the customs form but check with your local DMV.
