Parallel Parking Our Escape

On the way from one state park to another in Ohio we looked up a Trader Joe's to make a grocery shop. It never occurred to us that instead of a parking lot there would be a parking DECK. It was one of these malls that is off the highway but mimics main street U.S.A with sidewalks and streets and very limited "on street" parking. I was ready to give up, but Terry really wanted the Trader Joe food and he kept driving around until we found an empty spot with someone in the adjacent spot getting ready to pull out. He pulled straight in and it took several tries but we finally got the car and the trailer pretty parallel -- we paid two meters and went shopping. If our 19 had been jjust a little longer it wouldn't have fit.

Not the first time we've been glad to have a small trailer.

You are braver than me..... I shudder to think of parallel parking our 21 (or even our Casita when we had it!)

We fit into two spaces with the 21'. To me, it depends upon the tow vehicle!. But no, I would not bother to even try parallel parking.

Very Cool Ruthe! We've done it a few times, and shopping at Trader Joe's is a good reason. I remember it was kick to walk out of the grocery store, push our cart across the sidewalk, and load the trailer from the basket.

Bravo to Terry!

Good for Terry. Fortune favors the brave...or something like that.

I usually parallel park the Highlander and 19 at least one time on just about every outing. Usually it's the first thing in the morning when I'm in a small town with a good bakery. Once you get onto it I find it pretty easy. I bought my first boat and trailer when I was 16, learned to back it into the garage stall pushed by a big Buick with no power steering. And the old man saying, "Quit jacking around and back that thing in, we'll miss the 10 o'clock news." Cars and trucks are So easy to drive now so easy to drive today compared to 50 years ago. You don't know what you can do you don't try.

Yep. I think we've all been there.
