Personal E-Message - No Record of Sending

I use the personal message feature to correspond to members on topics that would not be of interest to other members. I have probably sent 10-15 such messages. Now when I want to go back and look at what I sent I do not find a record of them in my inbox or outbox. Specifically I find only two items in my outbox, where are the other messages I have sent?

Some messages have been sent by clicking on the user name inside a posting and "Send This Person a Personal Message", some have been sent as a reply to a personal message and some have been sent by searching the Member List and "Send This Person a Personal Message".

In some cases I know the recipient did not receive the message, is there a way to be sure of delivery? Is there a way to go back and see what a member has sent?

With the help of Escape Artist I have found the check box on the bottom of the email message you are composing. Check the box "Save a Copy in My Outbox".

Better yet would be to go to your Profile, under Modify Profile select the category "Personal Message Options". In that section there is a box to check "Save a copy of each personal message in my outbox by default". Ticking this checkbox will mean you will not have to remember each time you send a message. This really should be set by default, I would recommend if there is any chance you are going to do Personal E-Message to go in and check the box now.

With any forum I join, the first thing I always do is to go through the setup of options and put things the way I like them. There is no wrong or right for defaults, everyone does things different.
