picking up our baby!

Hello everyone! After 13 hours of "lurking" on the forum, we are finally making a post on the eve of picking up our new Escape 17B. We are at a hotel in Chilliwack after driving from Edmonton and can't wait to see our new trailer tomorrow. We even did a drive by and looked over the fence at the factory to see if we could spot it. We ran into a happy owner dropping his Escape off after a trip and assured us we would love ours too. We have decided to name her Escape Pod unless it is already taken. We feel like we know you all after reading all of your posts the past 3 months and we thank you all for ideas, suggestions and pics. We have learned a lot about the Escape before being owners ourselves. Our adventure with the Escapes all started with us waiting in a ferry line up 2 summers ago from Powell River to Texada Island were we met a very satisfied Escape owner. Hope we get our Pod home safely over the snowy Coquihalla.

How right, I have now had to wait out both, at least waiting for the trailer was exciting.

Re: picking up our baby!

Escape Pod was a name I had considered, but I just could not bring myself to name an inanimate object.

Re: picking up our baby!

Dave didn't want to name the trailer, but the kids and I like to name things... Escape Pod it now is.

We made it back to Alberta safe and sound; driving through rain, hail, snow, wind and a brief sand storm by Lake Jasper. The trailer pulled beautifully behind our Honda. The trailer got pretty dirty on the road; a far cry to how clean it was in the shop!

Thanks to all well-wishers... we look forward to sharing ideas on how to best pack, use and care for the trailer.

As many have commented already, Reace and Tammy were wonderful to deal with; we could not ask for better service! They really took the time to talk with us, show us the ins and outs of the trailer and get us set up for a safe trip home.

That picture pretty much sums up the effectiveness of "rock guards".
