Why, yes they are. What a great memory you have, Gabi. Heck, I never even knew you saw them.

The plate colour is not quite true in this photo, as ours are a light cream colour. Thinking about this more, I think we bought these in about 1992.

Went shopping in my basement 'til I found my old set (mid 70's) of Corelle Old Town Blue. Using that and love it!

Hi: All...Corelle too!!! Solid white with a solid Cobalt blue stripe or two around the rim. We found luncheon plates to match at the factory store in downtown Corning NY. Complete set + lunch plates... and haven't broke one yet. Alf

We're in the Corelle camp too. Had a set when we camped years ago but where they went who knows, so when outfitting "Escape Hatch" this spring found some on sale at Canadian Tire and chose with red and grey swirls so then decided red would be a colour throughout. Beth found some great red "moose" cushions at French River, ON which sort of match our duvet with red and yellow cartoon like moose.

Another Corelle user here. Everyone in the family thinks we're crazy not to use paper plates; however, I prefer eating on dinnerware that's not soggy. I love the look and feel of Corelle and the fact my food tastes better ... ha, ha.

Jan

P.S. I ordered mine on-line but found the same set at our local KMart ... go figure.

I am strongly in this camp too. I really don't care to use paper plates for anything.

As far as time savings, I think using real plates is actually faster. You need dishwater for pots and pans, utensils, or whatever. It takes but a couple seconds to wash a plate, and the same to dry. Corelle has to be the best stuff to clean off, as it is so smooth, nothing sticks. Compare that with paper plates, and having to remember to stock up, they take up storage space, your garbage fills up faster requiring more dumping, but if you burn them you have to hold them until the fire is lit, and/or take them to the fire.

PLUS, paper plates, and plastic utensils, in my books anyway, are a terrible waste. You can't reuse the plates, and if you are washing the utensils anyway, why not use good flatware?
