The foam and the loft windows were the 2 things I struggled with when doing my build sheet. 4 years later I still don't know if I picked right.

No foam. Have only wished for it a couple nights like the one in Butte a week ago when it was -19°C (-2°F). I still might do it later.

Foam-no regrets but also like the rigid foam others have done.

Bob, you are way over-thinking this. After four years, your only remaining camper/camping struggle should be whether the camp stew needs more smoked paprika.

To do it all over again? No Foam

Where I camp … noise is not a problem! I wonder about moisture / rust creeping under the foam. Easier to do mods and repairs without the foam in the way.

I have foam ordered on my new 5.0. My Build sheet is due Wed. Jan 23. I may change my mind depending on the results this poll! :-)

We camp in late fall and early spring. Our Scamp floor was cold. Our Casita floor was cold. Our Escape floor with insulation underneath is not cold, and at under 20 degrees is surprisingly civil. Since we enjoy camping in adverse temperatures we're happy we chose the insulation underneath.

As far as protection underneath, we've never had a problem with any of our campers and if this were our only criteria wouldn't bother, but for our style of camping we're glad it's there.

Enjoy,

Perry

Foam on both our previous 17B and current 19. It saved our undersides once from a dreaded road gator then was easily touched back up with a can of black spray paint. Also a fan for temperature control and sound muting.

We ordered options based on our experiences with our previous fiberglass trailer, a Casita SD 17'. The floor in the Casita was damned cold at 30°F, with the carpeted floor. We have had the Escape down to 20°F and it was quite comfortable, no carpet runners just the vinyl.

Floor definitely warmer than our stick built trailer, even though it had some insulation under floor as well. We believe it is quieter as well, though we’re not sure if this is due to the spray on foam.
When Reace was touring the US doing his plumbing repairs, he encountered extreme heat in Arizona (I think that was the location) and the heat reflecting from the road heated his water to the point he couldn’t use it to wash or shower. I believe his trailer didn’t have spray-on foam.

Curious

I probably read this and don't remember the answer but my question is what does ETI say the foam helps with? The 2014 we bought has it and had I ordered new would probably gotten this option but do agree with Donna it's ugly.

Enjoy the journey
Steve
