Same here, finalizing our 19 build sheet this weekend, still debating about this one, the only thing still undecided.

Foam Yes. Cooler, warmer, quieter and protects the under carriage from road hazards.

Pat, you and I both have classic 19's one foam and one no foam. I say we're the 19 test group at the Q.

We need a foamed and non foamed 17, 21, and 5.0 that are coming to Q that would like to participate in the study.

I am offering the Quarzsite Escape Foam Challenge that if each of the foamed trailers beats the surface floor temps under controlled conditions by +5 degrees(no Celsius allowed) of the non-foam trailers, then we'll head to Dairy Queen and the non-foam trailer owners will buy the foam trailer owners a small Blizzard of their choice.

If it is less than +5 degrees then the foam trailer owners will buy the non foam trailer owners the Blizzard of their choice.

This is an $800 CA option so I think it should at least yield +5 degrees difference, eh?

So waddya think, Pat. You feel lucky?

Greg, I hereby volunteer our 2017 21’ TT (without foam) to participate in the 1st Annual Quartzsite Escape Foam Challenge. We plan to be situated in the upper ridge.

We have just had this done on our 2008 trailer.

We bought it used and it doesn't have double paned windows or extra insulation.

Doug used reflectix and carpet and did all the areas under all the seats (sure couldn't do the upper part!!) That has helped but I wanted more...

Anyway, figured it would help---we haven't seen it yet and won't use the trailer until May...but it was an add-on we could do even 10 years later!!!

Not exactly ideal temps in Q right now for testing is there? You need to caravan to Calgary where you can really tell if foam works.

The foam will certainly slow the heating of the water but with the tank outside the conditioned space of the trailer it will still warm the water to ambient eventually. Same in the cold weather unless using a heat pad. When I was camping in 100 degree weather the water in the fresh tank was warm and the water in the hot water tank (off of course) was cool.

So far it appears to be about 2 to 1 ratio for foam vs non foam at least for the forum members...

Scratched off our short list any manufacture that didn't offer foam as a factory option. And who was left...?

When it gets a little dinged up I hit it with some black spray paint.

I was going to ask this very question. Have not seen foam on any trailer. I think it would help keep temps stable.

Somewhat related question after reading posts that folks might add it later... where? Then I saw post 44 in this thread and I think I figured it out. I'm impressed!

A Snob Hill wannabe, eh? [emoji6]

I would be willing to have my trailer used for metering too. My brother has an uninsulated 2017 19 too.

Hey Jim,
If I recall ur a non foam 5.0, so we’ll find a foamed 5.0 for you to team up with. Your Bro will be the 2G non foam 19 group.
We’ll have an organization meeting and figure out all the control parameters. If nothing else, we’ll at least have a Blizzard party at the DQ and a few laughs.

True on my trailer, non-foamed.

And I loves me a Blizzard party.

No foam. Would think about adding rigid foam for floor insulation if I ever thought it was necessary. Factory option is undependable for preventing water freezing without significant mods such as extra insulation around valves, battery consuming heat tape, etc. Not necessary for road damage. Agree with others that shell insulation and thermal windows do the most for sound dampening. Agree that it is ugly. Prefer to have access to the underside of the trailer.

2018 19 No foam but double pane windows and no regrets. Don't winter camp but will add rigid foam if I feel it would improve comfort. There are some excellent how to threads on this site. I appreciated the comment about the road heating the underside of the trailer. I never thought of that but it does make sense. I see a project coming.

Interesting about ground heat causing water tank to heat up . In the summer we were camping . The temps went up to 108 and we were in the sun . There was no problem with our foam covered water tank ,heating the water . That has been the hottest yet we were camping . I know places in Arizona can get way up there in temps . Our water was not hot at all.

Speaking of Dairy Queen, and showing your age... I remember the widespread public anger and indignation when Dairy Queen announced they were eliminating the butter fat content in their ice cream. That was serious.
