It is 1600x1200 pixels - large enough that to see it full size, the viewer first clicks on it to get from the thumbnail (300x225 pixels) to the pop-up version (at about 800x600), then clicks again on that to get it to open in a window or tab of just the photo, then clicks on it for the third time to zoom to full size (which requires scrolling to view fully on the laptop I'm using at the moment).

The software reduces it appropriately, so this file should be no larger than any other.
It is 3.2 megs, originally. Size on this page is 34.78 kb.
I'm just guessing here, but I doubt that the forum software downloads code to your browser to resize photos. It seems more likely that the whole 3.2MB uploads, then the forum server resizes and discards the full-size original. That may be fine depending on your internet service, but I would avoid that.

The thumbnail is 18 kB; the full image from the forum site is 292 kB, so the forum software has downsized it substantially... although not to the size that the forum administrators recommend.

This photo is worth the 1/4 MB of download to me, but when someone posts ten shots at this size, I usually settle for the thumbnails.

You are getting different numbers than I. When I open the thumbnail and go Command 'I' on my Mac, it says it is 34.78 kb.
If I hover over the thumbnail, it says 292 kb ( or so ).
When I open it, it now says 35.?? kb.

But, the point is that the software reduces the original to a reasonable size and then uploads it to the site for you to download. So, you're not having to download a lot of data.

I don't know why we get different values for the thumbnail (and it doesn't matter), but we have the same size for the full image from the forum. The size shown on hovering is presumably the result of following the link to see the full image size, rather than the displayed thumbnail image.

Agreed, but "a lot" is a relative term.

Pretty cool pictures gbaglo! Looks like you were sitting up on the knoll, having a cup of coffee, waiting for your wife to get up, when an eagle flew by and landed in an adjacent tree!

Start to a pretty good day..........

Very nice. We will be nearby (Nicola Lake) after the rally so may pop into Harmon and take a closer look.

Could be chilly early June. Elevation is 3670 and Ice Over is November to May. Cattle on road. We usually head east from Osoyoos after the rally, heading for Kettle Valley Provincial.

Maybe I wasn't clear or I'm not understanding I can post a picture but some of you have a picture by your name when you write a post I was wondering how you put a picture to the side of your post/profile like Glenn's frog/toad
