Present from Escape

Anyone else receive a box today with new awning tabs and a tube of sealant/? I have not had any issues so I'm leery of making changes.
Those with the tabs, are they needed?

Install instructions

I will be installing the new tabs. When ours had a little issue with adjustments it came within a hair of the top part hooking underneath. Which from what I have read damages the motor assembly. Yours did not come with them at all?

This begs the question: will everyone with the electric awning receive updated tabs or just those whose trailers were constructed during a specific time period?

We received an email today saying that they shipped the part which arrived today. So you should get an email if they are sending them. Do the TA's even have tabs? I thought yours were not recessed.

There was also a small label to place inside telling us to shut the power off to the awning while traveling. And information on another label that we did not receive that says to make sure the fan is off while traveling. I assume the 5 CF refrigerator does not need this so they did not include it.

We had the tabs when we got the trailer and then when Reace was making his round the countries trip to fix the crappy bathroom water hose situation, he stopped by to replace ours. Maybe they had a different angle than the original ones. I dunno as I wasn't able to compare the two sets.

They sent that label to me quite some time ago. I didn't get the frig fan label and when I questioned them about it, they said you only got it when you ordered the Texas fan option. Which we had, so they sent it to us. Neither of them have been peeled off and stuck inside the trailer.

I do double check the awning when I retract it to make sure it's on the upside of the tabs. I stop it just before the tabs and check the angle. Heck if I know how much help those tabs are.

I'd definitely make the change. Looking at the tabs on my August delivered 21, it appears I already have the longer tabs. I rarely use the awning, but Sunday it was providing shade. When I ran it in, the right hand (front) end cap caught the tab & jammed. I managed to get it closed, and no motor damage, but will need a new right hand awning end cap.

So, if the long tab can cause a jam, the short ones are even more likely to. Again, I'd change it.

The motor burned out on my Carefree Fiesta awning. But then I put the motor to bed and it was good as new the next day.

This problem is only exacerbated by pouring whiskey, wine or beer into the motor.
