I take any changes now as being for 2017 especially when they are significant (more costly.) They may use some items on the 2016s though. No telling.

The $100 extra outside of group 58 counters was already the case, just not clear before.

I had frameless windows on my Lance and T@da trailers. No black streaks and the interior screen and shade were really nice.

What are "group 58 counters"?

It's the matte finish for the Formica brand laminate. Other finishes, like the radiance finish, command a premium from ETI to install on top of the stocking fee (as I call it) for a custom color. I don't know why a different finish makes a difference.

I see that they have raised the price for custom counters to $200. Then it would be another $100 if you get other than Formica that ends in 58. (So presumably an extra $300 for other than 58.) That is the way it now reads, to me anyway.

That's the way I read it, too. I fully understand the $200 upcharge to order, stock and keep track of a custom piece of Formica laminate (and put it in the right trailer!), but I still don't get the part about the different finish. But then I've never installed laminate anywhere at anytime...maybe it handles differently or is harder to cut or something.

Shinier finishes are harder to install because scratches show up easier.

Having installed many 100's of sheets of laminate, for purposes like in Escape trailers, there is next no difference in efforts to install. When you do pre-formed rolled edges, some of the thicker glossy laminates cannot be bent near as tight as the 58 finish. It is not only the finish that makes the difference in cost, it is how the laminate is built up, how thick it is, and how thick the finish layer is. If you get a chance to compare, try bending them and you will see a difference in thickness and flex.

Ultimately, the glossier finishes will show scratches a lot more, especially with darker colours. The glossy finish also reflects light, and this reflection can be harsher, a bit consideration in Escape's with all their windows. They also show smudges and fingerprints more too. I know in looking at laminates for our own trailer, probably 50 or more sample from 3 suppliers, there were some samples with some gloss to them, and it was the reflection of light that turned me off of them more than anything.

The basic line with 58 at the end costs less. If you get another line, Formica charges more so Escape charges more.

We have a plain matt and can see where it needs to be cleaned up as opposed to the mottled look of many designs. I can see the appeal of the others though that cost more than the 58s as they are often much nicer looking, to many anyway.
