Price Increase

Just noticed the price of a standard 21 jumped from 27,800 to 31,800. Ouch!

Wow, our 19 base price we just picked up was $25,500 CA and it is showing $30,300 CA now.
Exchange rate is going to really affect these I guess.

Maybe I didn't look close enough but didn't notice any changes in the standard features either.

ETI has gotta pay for that new building. . Glad I got my 19' a couple years ago. They are rapidly travelling outside of my affordability range.

A wild guess is that ETI has to import the systems, that are about half their cost to build a trailer, from the U.S. and pay for it in U.S. dollars.
Got to keep that U.S. economy growing.

I was wondering when this was coming. ETI buys a large share of their inputs from the U.S. and with the strong U.S. dollar, they had to be really getting pinched. It takes a very good business manager to keep up with all of this. Loren

Not only that but the exchange rate differential has also narrowed 5%. Double whammy.

Timing

Considering the price increase and the party who bought the posted 5.0 TA today, if I were them, I'd be stepping out to buy a fistfull of lottery tickets. My Dad would have called that "clean living".

Increases are in CAD, and justified not just by supply and demand.

Steve,

It's still a great deal in US dollars. We had a Casita for 8 years but now that we have the 21 we love it. It's the perfect trailer! Life is short - go for it!!

Ouch, that's a BIG bite. I'm not paid off until the ink dries on the build sheet. It's maybe entering the not such a great deal territory since I'm now looking at the mid $30's US.

I suppose the increase raises the price of my resale so maybe it's kinda relative but then again......hmmmmm.

Better get busy and sign the build sheet, Bloomberg said the CDN might go down to .62. That won't be pretty.

Other price increases as well

In comparing the prices on their site with the first build sheet information that was sent to us in December, the following items have increased as well:

Equalizer hitch with sway control from $400 to $475

stereo w/4 speakers, $350 to $375

spray foam insulation under the trailer, $700 to $800 (price stayed at $1000 if you get the foam and the 2 heat pads)

Convert bench seat to u-shaped dinette, $350 to $400 (we got hit with that increase as it happened before our build sheet was signed off on)

LED awning strips, $125 to $170 (again, we got hit with that)

Gawd, that would have been easier to do if both lists (on their site and the build sheet) were in alphabetical order or at least the same order. But, nope.

I did not see any new options listed on their site that was not on our build sheet.

A debate takes two or more people and my debate partner ( wife)
says the debate is over. If Escape had made some of the more common options ,standard equipment to acompany the price increase it may have been more palatable. Thank you for your kind thoughts .We will stay with our Casita and keep camping or as Donna says "Love the one your with".

I betcha it was sold after the new buyer noticed the price increase. Probably within minutes of them seeing it!
