Purchase, delivery, and warranty service in Edmonton area

8)
We are wondering who presently owns an Escape in the Edmonton area. We were concerned regarding purchasing (B.C. tax-h.s.t. payable ?), the local delivery and how warranty is performed in the Edmonton area.
Any comments and\or experiences ?

Thanx in advance

Suggest you contact Escape directly via their Web site. People are buying these literally all over the continent (even buying new without seeing a trailer in the flesh) , so some mechanisms must be in place. I believe they have some way of dealing with taxes that should not apply to you, e.g. trucking or towing it out of BC and delivering to you in your home province. Give them a shout; Tammy & Reace are superb to deal with. You'll be glad you did.

Hi: old boler... I bet you could count on one hand the number of warranty claims there have been!!! We bought "Our Escape Hatch" 5.0 used, when it was quite a young egg and the only thing so far was my own fault. I turned on the electric side of the dual fuel water heater thinking it was full...WRONG. $16.50 for a new element : As for taxes thats up to Guberments. Biggest prolem would be a build/delivery date before the H.S.T!!! One thing you don't need to worry about is QUALITY...It's first rate!!!
I'd call Escape and Talk turkey with Tammy. Alf

If you live in Alberta, then you do not pay any PST, whether you buy it here or in BC. We took the beautiful drive out there to pick ours up. Headed back this June too.

Thanx for the replies. Was also wondering how these units compare to the "r-pod" fiberglass units available in Alberta? Prices are very comparable.

Hi: old boler... We went from a 1977 13' Boler to a 19 1/2' 2007 Escape 5.0. I wouldn't even consider a stick built trailer!!! Resale values prove this over and over. Mid 70's "glass" trailers are going for 1 1/2 to 2 times original prices...but then again if you don't want to sell whats it worth? Alf

Re: Purchase, delivery, and warranty service in Edmonton area

The R-Pod is a laminated type built-up layer that has to still be attached in the corners. While I do believe the laminated panel has good strength, it is weakened by the need for joints. Moulded fiberglass trailers like the Escape have the shells built as one piece, giving the shell much more integral rigidity. It still does rely on interior supports from cabinetry to 'stiffen' it up, but the construction is likely to last much longer, especially with lots of road miles. I did look at the R-Pod before deciding that moulded was the way to go.

rpod type trailers have the luan wood product backing behind the thin fiberglass exterior layer famous for bubbling and de-laminating in moisture and heat. it's not solid fiberglass all the way through.

Old Boler, have you contacted Escape? They can give you names of people with Escape trailers near you. If you type 'Edmonton' into a search you will come up with a few names too.

Thanx for the info. We really appreciate experienced campers' comments prior to following up with manufacturer\sales staff.
Sent an email to Escape yesterday and are waiting to hear from them. We are interested in the '10 19' to possibly replace our '79 17'.
Any further comments, knowledge and experiences will be appreciated.
