Question for classic 5th wheel owners
I understand there's carpet in the loft. What color? Or maybe it changed yearly? I'm visual, so is it a shade of blue, brown, gray.. or some other color?
THANKS!

The carpet is light brown .... but it's only around the sides of the bed. The silver bubble insulation is used under the mattress.

No just the new 5er. Although I did say on FiberglassRV if money was no option I'd track down the Geographic in France and buy it!
I'm just plotting and planning. I'm just surprised the entire loft isn't one piece of carpet over reflectix... if I read Barry's reply right.

Ours is light brown carpet - same color as on the steps - around the edges of the bed and plywood under the main part of the mattress....we put drymesh there. We don't have the extra insulation in ours. Our plan is to put reflectix under the mattress if we feel the need.

I looked up the Geographic --- sure looks French! Looks like a Citroen from that era.

The Geographic was made in Medford, Oregon in the early 1960s. I've seen it in person! Bardy brought to the Oregon Gathering about six years ago. Was sold on eBay for more than $120,000 and shipped to France. There were less than a dozen made. Total teak interior. So totally neato words can't express.
Sorry for getting off topic on my own thread!
Just so everyone knows... the ONLY loft I've seen without a mattress was a Bigfoot 5er. The entire loft area was carpeted... the couple was putting in two narrow twin beds (custom mattresses). I've never seen an Escape 5er without a mattress.
I'm still plotting and planning...

It isn't carpet over reflecix. Reflectix only under the mattress and carpet only around the edges.

Since the 5.0 TA is new design and ETI makes frequent production changes, Reace or Tammy would be the ones to ask. Reace indicated the other day that he was putting 1" of styrofoam insulation up there as added insulation. I believe that's new. Our July/2012 trailer was also light brown carpet around the mattress. It matched the flooring. I guess I never thought about opting for a different color.

I'm assuming this is on the loft floor, where the foam will need a structural layer over it (presumably plywood), and I'm not sure that carpet under the mattress on that plywood would add any benefit. I have noticed that stuff can tend to travel in the pile direction on carpet (such as a runner over wall-to-wall carpet - the runner migrates), so the mattress might be better off directly on plywood.

Hi: Donna D... I'm probably the only one who ever pulled the mattress out to flip it!!! Can't be done... but I tried. The carpet only needed to run at the sides/ends of the mattress to cover the bare plywood. Since it was largely unseen colour was not a consideration. Escape probably used what was at hand. Alf

The 5er we saw when we were buying our 2013 model had dark brown carpet around the bed and on the steps. It sort of matched the floor. I told Tammy I liked it and wanted that carpet. She said it was the new standard. However, ours came with the light coloured carpet anyway :-( Reace told me later that the standard is sometimes dark, sometimes light, but it's always brown.
The light colour's fine. And as previously said, no carpet in the centre of the mattress, just around the edges. We have the dry mesh underneath too.
