Yup, sure lookin' that way. Are you guys going?

Sandy Beach Motel

EDarby, we stayed at the Sandy Beach Motel during the 2014 Rally and liked it a lot. It's just a brief and pleasant walk to the Rally from there.

A "two-bedroom lakefront suite" on the second floor is particularly quiet and scenic, but I don't remember our room number. The room rates seemed reasonable, and are all listed on their website. The hosts are very friendly and efficient.

We would really like to but we don't know yet. We'll be taking delivery in late Feb or early Mar, and I'll take a few weeks off from work to do so -- as we wend our way back south to Texas. I get about 6 weeks per year paid leave so it's not a question of having enough, but whether they can spare me.

6 weeks/year -- not too shabby! And always nice to be needed!
Well, if the stars align, look forward to meeting you guys!

The easiest (rental car) drive from an airport to Osoyoos is certainly from one of the Okanagan valley airports, which are Penticton and Kelowna... but although there is better service to Kelowna, neither is easy to get to compared to the bigger airports near the coast. Any ground transportation other than a rental car to Osoyoos is certainly problematic, although I have taken the Greyhound bus from Kelowna.

I have seen rented travel trailers at Nk'mip, which are delivered to the campsite by the renting company. Perhaps the Nk'mip management could point you to a suitable company, and you could stay right in the Escape Rally area.

The Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort & Spa is part of the Nk'mip development, and is right up the hill from the campground. I've been to the cultural centre and the restaurant up by the resort accommodations, and it looks like a nice place... but it is priced to match.

Wow, Brian, lots of good information! I looked at Spirit Ridge and it is beautiful but the lowest rate at the time of the rally for a 1BR suite is $189/night. Yup, you're right, priced to match! (though only $99/night now)

I'm pretty sure that if I do go (will hopefully make decision tomorrow), I would fly to Spokane, WA (thank you Donna D!), rent a car and drive from there (about 3-1/2 hours).

I'm looking at Sandy Beach Motel (thanks Catchlight) at $99/night and NK'MIP yurt at $80/night.

Thanks for your help!

Hi: EDarby... Any possibility of a discount at NK'MIP due to the Escape Rally? Alf

Certainly worth checking, but my impression is that the campground, the resort, the restaurant, the golf course, and the winery are or at least have been operated separately. They're all on the land of the Osoyoos band and have some level of band ownership, but they seem to be separate businesses. When we ate at the restaurant they didn't feature Nk'Mip wines on the menu; when we asked about that, the restaurant staff said something like "we're not connected to them". The Patio Restaurant is now featured on the Nk'Mip Cellars website, but the rest of the businesses... who knows?

Flight from Cleveland to Spokane, WA: CHECK
Rental car from Spokane to Rally: CHECK
I did hear back from NK'MIP and no discounts for rally attendees.
Do appreciate the info on renting an RV but at this point, leaning towards a yurt or Sandy Beach Motel.
But, bottom line, SO EXCITED to be able to attend!!!
Thank you all so much for your input.
Can't wait to meet everyone and to see all those sweet 17 footers!!!
