Re: Ah Winter

All the owners of Escapes are in hibernation, just looking at this forum no one is posting. I wish everyone a Happy New Year and a great 2011 Camping Season.

Hi: hippo... I refer to this time of year as "Fibernation". A deep sleep between the last rally of 2010 and the first of 2011. May we awake to a great new season of camping!!! Alf

Re: Ah Winter

I went out to Toad this afternoon, turned on the oil-filled heater and opened the MaxFan a bit. Checked the Dry-Z-Air containers and they contained little liquid since I emptied them about two weeks ago. Humidity was 100 per cent according to the gauge ( this is Vancouver ), but it didn't feel damp.
I might go out there and play a bit tomorrow.

Re: Ah Winter

Its a nice time to complete a few projects around the house (finally got new recessed fixtures installed in the living room ceiling), and an even better time to do a few mods on the trailer.

I had Reace run 12v service to the aft end of the bedroom storage area, and I finally got the little Hella fan painted and installed. Prior to the install, I masked it off and spray painted the fan with a muted metallic copper which matches the interior. In addition I drilled through the attaching fixtures so I could run the cord up into the cabinet for a neat installation. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

It was a tedious thing. Thank you! Wishing everyone a happy New Year, although last year has been a month.

Chuck:

I can feel spring in the air! We have snowdrops showing their heads and daffodils are up a few inches. Lots of robins around. Next week we hope to take Ladybug on a trip to Whidby Island, weather permitting. I thought that you would have already been out with your new trailer!

Re: Ah Winter

Well, as much as I wish it was April & I was on my way to Chilliwack to pick up my 17B, here in Oswego it was -11°F this morning, it is now "up" to 10°F, and this is what my back deck looks like!

Hi Jon,

Nice picture!!! I live about 4 hours north east of Chilliwack and my deck looks similar to yours. Another week till Groundhog Day which means that Spring is just around the corner OR it may last another 6 weeks.

My trailer isn't ready until July - gotta figure out how to kill time until then.

cheers,
G

just a couple of posts a day and your status will change. I'm sure it will be a bit warm by July, as well.

Re: Ah Winter

Winter's a bit different here in Northern California. I don't have a hitch suitable to haul the Escape 19 any distance, but we did get out last weekend to Dillon Beach (near Bodega Bay, CA) for some "winter" camping in the 16 ft U-Haul.

Regards,

Matt

One thing we have not lacked in Wisconsin so far this winter is snow!

Re: Ah Winter

Chuck:

We just returned from three days of camping on Whidbey Island. We stayed at Fort Ebey State Park. Overnight temperatures were as low as freezing, but we were snug in our trailer. There is still plenty to see at this time of year. The photos below show Mount Rainier from Fort Ebey and "Ladybug" at our camping spot at Fort Ebey.

That is Mount Rainier which can be seen looking south from the edge of the bluff at the gun battery at Fort Ebey. Here is a link to the full resolution version: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brian_v...4236/lightbox/
