Refrigerator Tragedy
Got home with the 19' on Saturday night from a great weekend in Jasper National Park where I spent two days doing some whitewater paddling with a friend and my oldest son. Prior to leaving for home, I had forgotten to properly secure a six pack of beer in the fridge. When I arrived at home, I opened the fridge door and the six pack fell to the floor, breaking 2 of the 6 unopened bottles of beer. Fortunately, I had a large towel handy and managed to mop up the beer before it ran into any crevices along the edge of the floor. After drinking the remaining 4 unbroken bottles of beer I came up with the following post-incident analysis and recommendations for future trips:
1) Drink all beer well before leaving for home
2) Properly secure items in fridge so that they will not shift (maybe some lightweight bungees would be useful)
3) After towing the Escape, open the fridge door slowly to spot impending falling items and allow them to be caught prior to hitting the floor.
I will be implementing these items on all future trips.
cheers
dave

I use those compression rods sold in CW on my refer shelves and in my cabinet overheads, saves things from knocking you on the head or falling and breaking.

Were services held for the two that fell in the line of duty?

I paused for a moment of silence before burying them.

Couldn't you wring out the towel through a Melitta Coffee filter? Such a waste of good beer! Now I know that I will always transfer the beer to a cooler in the TV while traveling.

I would definitely have tried your solution if all six bottles had broken. Given that it was only two, I was not quite that desperate.

Hi: ice-breaker... I always take cans...but they aren't without dangers. They will puncture if pushed into the cooling fins... but you can siphon up the spill't beer with a straw Alf
