Registering a Used Escape

Did I read somewhere on the forum that an Escape trailer that is properly registered in the US must be returned to Canada and re-imported in order for the new owner to register it? It seems really odd, but I need to verify that.

I've never heard of that. Lots of Escapes have been sold on this forum and I've never heard of anyone doing that.

If a trailer is imported into the US and subsequently resold to a US buyer, the sales and registration process should be no different than if the buyer was purchasing a used US manufactured trailer.

If the trailer is imported into the US and subsequently resold to a Canadian buyer, the Canadian buyer will need to import the trailer back into Canada in order to register it there. I had to go through this process last year when purchasing a used Escape 15B from a US seller.

And, a Canadian can't sell you his Canadian trailer in the U.S. because he doesn't want to pull it home. It has to go back to Canada and the U.S. buyer then imports it to the U.S.

Thanks, guys! I obviously got my wires crossed. I'm tucking this info away for the future, since I won't be buying as soon as I'd hoped.
