RVillage Group

Hi all, I created an Escape Travel Trailers group over on RVillage. If you're not familiar with RVillage, it's kinda like a Facebook specifically for RVers. If you'd like to join, visit

https://www.rvillage.com/

Or you can put the RVillage app on your phone.

Pretty soon everybody will have their own group, with a membership of one.

True. RVillage has a few functions that FB doesn't. If no one joins, no big deal, didn't cost anything and took me maybe 10 minutes.

What does RVillage offer that this site doesn't? (I've not heard of RVillage before.)

There are ten groups right here on this forum. You will find them under "groups" ( top left of the main page ). They have a few members and few posts. If you want to attract members to a group, you'll need to post some sort of manifesto.

This forum was created when Jeff Z felt there were enough Escape owners to create a separate forum from FGRV ( like Scamp, Casita and Oliver forums ). There was a bit of commotion on FGRV when the Escape Forum was started ( ad support depends on forum members hits ). Then both FGRV and this forum were purchased by Social Knowledge.

Creating Facebook groups will just put more money in Facebook's pocket.

I'm also a member of the Facebook Escape forum. This forum has a lot more experienced Escape trailer campers who can offer useful advice and do problem solving.

So I was serious about ending up with multiple groups of one.

Perhaps you can explain what RVillage will offer that is lacking here.

I tend to agree with Glenn here, I already spend too much time on this forum, do not need another one to grow old with......

RVillage has a different purpose than this forum in my mind. I've met some interesting and friendly folks using RVillage that I would never have known about otherwise. Not Escape owners mind you, just RV folks in general who share some common interests.

Having said that, the app is a bit of a mess, the location service is often wildly inaccurate, and definitely needs some work before it will ever realize its potential.

And it's just like anything else - if you think it will take up too much of your time or isn't useful, don't do it.

RVillage is just another social forum, kind of like Facebook. I didn't start the group to be in competition with this forum or the Facebook group. I did it because i thought some of the features over there are kinda neat and folks might like them.

I was on a Class A forum, just like this one, for years. Someone started a Facebook version and the old guards on the forum went ballistic, like it's a turf war or something. It's not. If you don't like Facebook or RVillage, don't subscribe to it. Simple as that. If no one joins after a month or so, I'll delete the group, understanding that there wasn't enough interest and I won't be upset about it.

Exactly how it should be looked at.

I find this forum is WAY more helpful on technical help and how to type things. Facebook is better for sharing photos and experiences. Many people first find out about Escape trailers there, with lots then signing up for this forum as well. And most definitely, participation in either of these, or sites similar to RVillage or many of the other forums or Facebook groups is always optional. They can very much work together. This is a reality, not a competition.

I find that I get all the information and help that I need here at the escape forums. I do not care to be part of another site that may be tracking me. Ty for the offer. Others might find the site is for them good luck

I signed up for RVillage ages ago, and have really found nothing I cared for there. Letting me know someone else who signed up is in my area has no appeal to me. I have to be fair though, I have not looked into any groups or such there. I do love meeting with fellow forum members, and have met many hundreds of them, BUT I got to know many of these folks to varying degrees online first, and with many I was really looking forward to meeting them in person.

Enough email to snow you under. I finally dropped it when it started to make up a good chunk of my incoming mail.

There are a few things it offers that are not available elsewhere, but it wasn't worth it for me.

Other than signing up for RVillage, how does one learn what it offers? So far I've not read anything in these posts to enlighten me ( other than you get a notification that somebody nearby owns an RV ).

The profiles are the key, as well as groups. The group could be anything you're interested in, and a completed profile helps pinpoint common interests as well. Not much point to just signing up though without that.

That's interesting, given the number of members here that avoid providing any information about themselves.
