San Antonio to Canada - Part Deaux
Greetings all. On the way to Osoyoos since yesterday morning.
Last night we stayed at Palo Duro Canyon State Park near Amarillo. Nice scenery.
This afternoon we just set up at Chatfield State Park just south of Denver. Also a nice place.
We had terrible headwinds from Texline TX to Raton NM - and it knocked our gas mileage down to 9 mpg during that stretch. Otherwise, we are averaging 15.5.
On to Wyoming tomorrow, then on to Montana. Man, this sure beats working.

Oh, almost forgot: Our son texted us this morning with a photo he took of an Escape on loop 1604 in San Antonio yesterday. I wonder who it is? Anyone on the forum?

Thanks Doug. Yeah, felt like I'd never get home on Friday - wound up getting to bed at 2:45 am.
See you folks soon.

looks like the weather so far is cooperating and nice flag!...looks like the guard dog is on patrol..
curious when looking at pics with both a full-size truck inline with a 19...do you have the lift kit installed on the 19 and do you have any drop on your trailer hitch stinger? thanks and have a safe adventure.
will be making this trip soon too from Tx to visit the factory and have an adventure too!

Thanks Jeff. This was the first time we tried the flagpole and we love it. Telescopes and locks each section with a twist.
We use an Andersen Hitch. The trailer is not lifted. The Andersen stinger is set up to use the bottom mount holes, so that's probably equivalent to a 2" rise on a standard stinger. The top of the ball is 20" above the ground.
Of course, this is a 2WD we're talking about, so the 4WD would be higher.

Good to see that you and your Escape are back on the road! We just picked up ours last month! We drove it down to San Antonio and we had a blast! We'll be leaving again in July. Did you get your referral check?

Good to see you are having a nice trip. it's cool and rainy here in western Montana and will continue through the week. Wish you had better weather in my state but we really need the rain, once July gets here it won't rain till October. Everything is green now and the elk are calving in my back field.

Hope you continue having a good trip Robert. I didn't realize you had the 2WD, our new 2.7 Eco is a 4x4 so think I am going to have to drop my B&W Patriot to lowest setting. Due to helping our daughter pack her house into storage at Fort Leavenworth for ten days I still haven't got the mounting rails in the bed yet so no pulling trailer for a while. Fortunately have no camping plans until August. Wish we were off to Osoyoos but that might happen next year.

San Antonio to Canada - Part Deaux
In a podunk RV park at Lake De Smet in northern Wyoming tonight. Not much of a view from the campsite (unless we look behind us) but they have a bar and a restaurant so we're enjoying that. More strong headwinds all the way through Wyoming today, which knocked our gas mileage down to 10 or 11.

The chamber of commerce boys and girls often get in a little bit of a hurry on their state slogan. It's really, Big , wide wonderful, WINDY , Wyoming.
Read up on Father DeSmet, he was quite a camper in his own right.

A state without trees isn't fit for a dog.

Tons of trees here though - especially in the mountains.

You would, except it's a bit chilly and the sun is most welcome!

That's the spirit. Spent the past two days in the Humbolt Redwoods. They are pretty impressive. I've been there before and they must have grown some but it's hard to tell. I had to pack a lunch to walk around a few of them
