Shopping RV Accessories

Stopped at Fraserway RV in Abbotsford to pick up a second set of Lynx Levelers. I wanted the Lynx so the "Lego" pattern would match the set I already have.
But, I came close to choking on the price. With tax, cost $67 and change.
Noticed that my Grand Aero mirrors, which I had shipped from England for about $125, were priced at $169.99. They've been on sale at Costco for close to $100.
Clerk asked if I was in their computer. I said no and that since I would not be coming back because of their outrageous prices, there was no point in entering me.

Free/cheap/on sale are my favorite words.. OH and FREE SHIPPING. I know some of the "accessories or options" I'm looking at online make me choke/gag/hurl. Ya can't spend the same nickle twice. Make it count!

I get the concern with high prices compared to online sources or Costco, but when you need a replacement <fill in almost any RV part here>, does Costco have one? Typically no. At an RV-specific business you are paying them to be there with all the stuff you might need. You can get everything where it is cheapest and available quickly enough, which means you will be getting widely available stuff elsewhere, and specialist bits at an RV dealership.

As far as I can tell, the only purposes of being in Fraserway's computer are to get their advertising (maybe useful if you see something on sale), and to save time at the cash register.

Have to pipe in here as a small manufacturer - Costco & big chain operations get huge economies of scale not only in purchase prices for them but in shipping. Shipping costs have doubled for me in the last 6 years to the point where the shipping - even for light weight plastic items - is often more than the cost of my parts to the customer. UPS and Fedex also have a surcharge for a "home delivery" instead of to a business. Drives me up a wall sometimes.

"IF IT FITS, IT SHIPS" as long as the purchaser is willing to take the hit on damaged product. Good packaging takes care of 99% of that.

True, but packaging adds weight. I just shipped a $40 part about 1200 miles and the UPS shipping charge was $76 for 7 lbs of plastic...........

Did it fit in one of those boxes "If it fits, it ships" boxes? I had a friend ship me a "ton" of glass... heavy, and I was willing to accept damage, because the shipping was cheap.... and I'm talking the United States Postal Service, NOT UPS.

Hummmm

The best value for money spent with USPS "IF" boxes is really heavy stuff. Definitely can save money if you ship bricks.

Didn't fit in one of those - part was 28 x 10 x 16 inches.
