Show us your dirty Escape
Had a chance to do some paddling on the Upper Red Deer River west of Sundre Alberta this weekend. The whitewater paddling was great but unfortunately the drive out there was not kind to our Escape. Lot of bouncing on wet washboard roads did a number on our stove and had to spend all afternoon today washing the dirt off of the Escape.
Anyone else have any dirty pictures to show us?

There's no way to top your dirty picture. Regardless, here's my best shot. AF Academy Campus, Colorado Springs, last January.

Dave , looks like you went to Alaska and back. That's one grubby trailer.

It was actually a lot dirtier than it looks in the photo. But I did see a photo on the escape web site of one in Alaska that looked much dirtier.

We are planning a trip to Alaska with it being one of the main reasons to buy a trailer. I know which picture you are referring to. I'm sure anyone going up there will run into some less than desirable conditions and my main concern is how will the under carriage foam stand up to that. Loren

Here is a winter time photo. Jan 2013 drive from Calgary to Vancouver. Photo taken at Rogers Pass lodge near the summit of Trans Canada Highway. Hit rain in the southern portion of the Fraser Canyon and the trailer was nearly clean by the time we hit Chilliwack. We did end up with wet silt/fine sand in bottom of the front storage box. I think it came up through the weep holes in the bottom of the box.

Great photo of how the storage box protects the front of the trailer -- at least the bottom third of it.

Fall 2013 after major rainstorm coming through Capitol Reef, UT. This was very fine silt/clay and was extremely difficult to get off. There is still some on the frame after a year.

I also have had some clayey soil on my vehicles that that was very difficult to remove, even when scrubbed. Driving several days during extremely wet weather sometimes helps to clean that stuff off.

These patches can be used to cover the weep holes and keep dirt out but still allow drainage:

Yup. We have a winner. Is there a trailer under that?

Fortunately a lot came off as we continued driving in the rain, but it still took a few quarters at the car wash to get it looking respectable again.

Dirk got his trailer quite dirty, as shown in this thread from 4 years ago.
http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f1...-over-410.html
It was also that thread that got Dirk keen on skiing around the Bowron Lake Circuit, a 120 km trek, that following winter. We did make it around that year.
