That's good news if some precipitation is actually falling somewhere in CA. We'd settle for snow right now here in drought-stricken BC, especially if it would help put out some of the 200 forest fires that are presently burning.

Here's what our skies have looked like this week on Vancouver Island.

California is bizarre in sooooo many ways; why should snowfall be any different.

In the mean time, we here in SoCal and taking pride in how yellow or brown we can get our lawns looking.

And we have a cluster of over 90 earthquakes in a one mile square, about 12 miles from where I am right now (didn't feel a thing).

Edit: tried to paste the link to usgs earthquake map, but "no joy".

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes

then go to "California" then window in NW of Los Angeles.

My wife and I were just there yesterday hiking in Toulomne Meadows. We got there around noon and hiked around Lambert Dome for about 6 hours, then headed back to base at Mono Vista RV. We waited an hour on Tioga Rd to go back through the park. We thought for sure it was an accident but it turned out to be snow! What a trip to be traveling down the same warm, sunny road just hours earlier to see the area blanketed in snow at 37F degrees.

On a side note: We turned a corner on top of Lambert Dome trail just 20ft away from a black bear. I sidestepped about 30 yards out REAL quick! Quite an adventure yesterday.

Wow that is a rare sight...We need all the precipitation we can get. I read this morning that we have a fair chance to see the end of the drought. Emerging El Nino weather event is California's biggest since 1997 | The Sacramento Bee
I hope so.

It is raining again here in the Midwest and the outside work is piling up. I sure wish we could send some of this to California. Last weekend a lot of the beaches at the local lakes were under water. Loren

Do you suppose if the price of water equaled that of oil it would be sent?
