Storage Ventilation

Is it Ok to crack the Maxfan open a bit while the trailer is stored. We just have a huge thunderstorm and got me thinking.

I've had the Maxxfan fan cover open during can't-see-out-the-window downpours in the NorthWest with no problems. This is the added cover, not just the one on the fan itself.

I left our 19' covered with a Calmark cover and the Maxfan opened last winter. In the Spring, the fan blade was covered in dust/dirt. No big deal to clean it, but expect a little spring cleaning.

I open all cupboards and drawers so air can circulate. I have two Dri-Z-Air containers, that I empty about every two weeks. I buy the pellets in bulk.
I run a 800 watt oil-filled heater from time to time ( usually when temps drop below freezing ).
Fridge door is propped open ( along with the freezer door ).
I don't have a cover. A coat of quality wax twice a year is cheaper and more effective than a fabric cover. Storing it inside or under a carport would be better, but not an option for me.
I keep the fan vent open in the summer, not so much over winter.
And, when it comes to the Dry-Z-Air; the liquid that collects in the container is not "water" although it contains H2O. If you spill it is really difficult to wipe up with a paper towel ( as in, the towel doesn't absorb it like it would water ). I keep one container in the sink and the other I handle carefully.

Winter in Florida generally is like a mixture of summer and fall in the northern climes. I have always kept my campers under a carport for protection from UV exposure. But even in winter, humidity is a big problem, sometimes in the 70 to 99-1/2%. But no snow to shovel or ice to slip and hall on your butt to endure. I keep a 30 pint dehumidifier inside when we are not on the road. I let it drain into the sink and through the gray water tank onto the asphalt under the carport (screen over the drain to keep pests out). I do crack the vent slightly to allow for ventilation.

If you use the Dri-Z-Air, be sure to place the entire container inside another plastic container (like a wash basin) before placing in the sink. It's especially important if you have a stainless steel sink. The liquid will etch the sink if the liquid spills.

Hey ,

I do the same one in the sink and one on the table in a small stainless steel animal water bucket so I just grab the bail no risk of spillage.

I have one of these that I just take out of the trailer and recharge (plug it in) when it shows it is full. I'm not sure how much water it actually removes, but I like that it can be used over and over. Eva-Dry E-500
