Subject is subject to change

I've been negligent as a moderator, allowing topics to morph and not doing anything about it, hoping that the planets will realign. That's partly because I couldn't remember how to fix the situation by moving individual messages to another more suitable area or changing the subject line.

Anyway, I think I've partly figured that out and Jeff will send me the instructions, I expect.

But, could members please remember to change the topic on their messages if they are straying from the original topic?

And Jim, I have a canoe video to show you.

Re: Subject is subject to change

Glenn - I actually tried to do that with one of the threads. I previously started a new thread under General Discussion with a subject of "TX Microbreweries with yummy beers". Could you please combine that with the one you just created called "Microbreweries" in the Modifications - Alterations area?

btw - Thanks again to you and Jeff for keeping the forum running smoothly.

Re: Subject is subject to change

Glenn, I am active on a some photography, woodworking and canoeing forums, and every last one without exception has threads that get 'hijacked', or go off in another direction all the time. It really is no different then any conversation on some topic, where people tend to go off on other tangents. As long as it is a viable conversation, it is usually accepted. Breaking it off to another thread is a good thing though, especially if it is not just common banter and is actually good information (like beer ). That way it can have an appropriate title for others searching.

Glenn, one thing you see lots on other sites when they break off bits of a thread to one of its own, is to indicate that in the title, usually with (MOVED) or something like that in the title. Otherwise, the first post can seem a bit confusing to someone not in the loop.

I would love to see the canoe video you speak of, and skiing photos of Dirk's too.

Hi: gbaglo... Glenn; At least you are a "Moderate" Moderator. It's one thing to remove or change a post if it's offensive, but another thing to do same if it's not up to your standard of posting!!! I believe we are all trying to place every topic/conversation in appropriate threads. That said... conversations have a habit of drifting fore 'n aft sometimes. I find it refreshing that it doesn't feel like "Big brother is watching" HERE!!! THANKYOU!!!
