Glenn, I am active on a some photography, woodworking and canoeing forums, and every last one without exception has threads that get 'hijacked', or go off in another direction all the time. It really is no different then any conversation on some topic, where people tend to go off on other tangents. As long as it is a viable conversation, it is usually accepted. Breaking it off to another thread is a good thing though, especially if it is not just common banter and is actually good information (like beer
). That way it can have an appropriate title for others searching.
Glenn, one thing you see lots on other sites when they break off bits of a thread to one of its own, is to indicate that in the title, usually with (MOVED) or something like that in the title. Otherwise, the first post can seem a bit confusing to someone not in the loop.
I would love to see the canoe video you speak of, and skiing photos of Dirk's too.
