Television Size for 21' Escape
We will be picking up our 21' Escape on July 11 : ) Hubby wants a TV at the bed end, but not sure what size TV to get. Want a smart TV, but only finding them in 24" and up. Will a 24" work in that location? What about by the dinette on the fridge wall?
Thanks all!

Here's where we mounted our big-enough-for-us 19" television beside the microwave (reinforced wall) in our 21' plus a view of it from the dinette and a view of it from the bed. It's not a "smart" TV, but that's just the way we like it.

Hahaha! That's exactly what I want hubby to do - get over it. I could do without a TV - he cannot. Been that way since I met him 33 years ago - guess I'll be the one getting over it!

If we are going to put a TV in, I would prefer a smart TV. However, I will forgo that option if a bigger TV looks bad in the space.

We like having a TV for the local weather forecast first thing in the morning and a quick update on the day's news right before bed at night. Otherwise, we could easily do without, too....

We enjoy our Samsung, mounted a little closer to the edge of the not reinforced wall where the "stud" is. Ours is sold as a 24", but measures 23"on the diagonal. We used a non-ETI swing arm/mount that cost less than $20 on Amazon.
It is removed for travel.

If you're camping where there are lots of outdoor activities (hiking, walking, biking, sitting around a campfire, etc.)... or even setting up and driving to activities (museums, shopping, light house tours, etc).. having a television doesn't seem so important. BUT if you camp for days on end, when the weather is ugly... you can only spend so much time inside reading, putting together puzzles... talking. Then, the world gets kinda small. A television gives you an escape . It's a way to relax before bedtime too. Nonsense movie played on a DVD... or even renting one from Redbox or downloaded to a a memory stick.
I'm putting TWO televisions in Ten Forward Like a lot of things, just because you have it, doesn't mean you have to use it... but it does give you options.

Smart TV just means internet connectivity as in Wifi capable. Problem is that most campground Wifi systems are very limited bandwidth and won't stream video, assuming you can even connect should Wifi exist.
We connect via cellphone as a hotspot with an external antenna/booster, which feeds a laptop that streams video to a Roku stick in the USB port of our 22 inch RCA - model DECG22DR. Has an internal DVD player, runs on 12V.
I'm a news junkie. Morning coffee isn't the same without it.

We have a 24 inch tv in our 17FD Casita. It hangs from the back passenger corner over the bed. It is the perfect size for watching from the captain's chairs. I would like to put a 27 or 28 inch in the new Escape 21, since it is quite a bit farther from the dinette to the forward end of the full height cabinet over the drawer stack. Has anyone put one that large in their trailer?

I use an iPad and have data most places. We also go to coffee shops or libraries many times.

Lisa, I think a 21 inch is plenty big for a small trailer, but a 24 should work fine in your 21. As for "smart TV", it's nice to have the built in apps like media sharing, Hulu, Netflix, USB slots and internet connectivity, but to be honest, in many places we camp, internet connectivity is either dodgy or not available at all. That's OK by us, since we don't get to "unplug" often enough. To my mind a nice campfire, a chat, and a nightcap beats the TV any day.

With 2 distinct living areas in a 21, i had 2 televisions, one in dinette and one in bed area. Both were small though, a 9" in bed and a 15" in dinette. But finding weather on the road was sporadic so a weather radio became the preferred choice.

I mounted a 24" TV in my E-21. It is mounted on the wall over the small counter at the foot of the bed. I bought a heavy duty mount that lets the TV swing all the way around to be viewed from the rear dinette or from outside through the door. A 24" TV is max size for the space without extending past the edge of the cabinet. The TV is actually about 22" wide. Since my TV is older I am working on adapting a Bluetooth speaker set up so the audio is not blasting when viewed from a distance.

All you need is a regular TV and a Fire Stick or similar and you have a smart TV. I have watched very little RV most of my life but now I am going to watch it as much as possible! I also need to watch the news.

That's true. I did a little experiment awhile back when we were camping. I used my Chromecast and my phone, launched the DirecTV app, and cast the screen to my TV. Worked perfectly, although it would be dodgy with a slow connection. It was nice to watch a little HBO with no cable and no satellite dish.

TV in the 21'
Thanks for all the input. Ended up purchasing 24" Vizio. Should fit the bill nicely.
