Tennessee Fires

Its so sad what has happened overnight.

The winds here were incredible last night and we did not get much rain out of it. 80 mph gust in the Smokey Mtn. Park area. Some of the historic areas are in danger of being burned.

Wildfires lead to evacuation of Gatlinburg

So sad, my heart goes out to those affected. Hope they get it under control, and some modicum of normalcy can return to these peoples lives.

We saw the devastation, to homes and people alike following the wildfires here in Fort McMurray earlier this year. The cosliest disaster in Canadian history.

Tom,

My heart is broken. We were there a few months ago and enjoyed the area so much. Prayers to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.

News didn't look good this evening, hopefully it will get contained. Spent a lot of time in those areas in my youth, very sad.
We just had the opening day of the new Memorial for our 19 Hotshots that lost their lives in the Yarnell fire here in AZ a few years back. Heroes, all.
Prayers for all affected in TN.

The good news for campers is that Elkmont Campground wasn't affected by the fires.
