No. I did it myself. It is a real easy changeover if you decide to do it later yourself....

Jim, does that mean all Escapes not in production yet would have an insulated door?

John,
I do not know when he started the change, if yet. I asked him if it could be done as part of the extra insulation package because I felt the door was the weak spot. He agreed and said that the newer models will have some sort of insulation, whether with the package, on all models, starting when, he was not specific.

First mod will be exterior down lighting underneath the trailer to illuminate the ground underneath at night time. Working on installing led rope lights underneath, have to figure how to attach with the foam package.
You definitely have some good time to plan things out, which is nice. Some good ideas too.

You never know with having the bike rack option, as you may change bikes into the future, plus it would be a good resell feature in a years time when you go to sell. Also, not understanding the undercarriage lighting, is the porch lighting not adequate for your needs? I ask because we rarely even use the porch light as mostly boondockers, we find the porch light is annoying if left on. We do carry small flashlights or headlamps in the evening though.

Jim,
Here are some pictures of "down" lighting. Basically it is accent lighting to high lite areas underneath. In our case, over each stabilizer pad to accent the ground underneath. The stock ligths are fines but at night they are too bright sometimes, The first 2 pictures are from my T@da trailer installation. The last ones shown on cars. Mine are nowhere as bright as the car one is.

Ah, we used to call that sex lighting, or mood lighting.

I have a buddy who has a porch light that works two ways, one full bright, and they other a dim bluish glow. Definitely way less obtrusive than the typical bright light.

I'm skeptical that he lasts even a year...who knows when a 23' may come out?

Actually, I think this will be one of the most interesting threads to follow as Jim thinks through his add-ons and his discards. As a former owner and with plenty of time to think () about his new unit, we hangers-on can just enjoy the ride.

Kim checked with Reace about the trailer doors and they are all insulated now with a product called Cor-Mat.

I'm requesting Reace to install a "E-Z winterizing" T valve that would allow the pump to suck antifreeze thru the lines and winterize the entire unit with about 3/4 gallon antifreeze. Cost should be minimal. In addition a water supply cut off valve to the toilet. Leaning towards the "U" shaped dinette in the new 21' also. Trying to decide on custom colors.

No one will ever have a trailer just like yours. . You take the word custom to the extreme!
It is great though because people learn new ideas and you test them out. I imagine Reace has taken ideas like yours and made them standard if they work well and are cost effective.

If that is a compliment, thank you, I have had 7 trailers in 5 years, some were bad, some had good ideas. Thus my desire to incorporate them into the "Perfect Escape".

Jim,
I concur with the compliment.

We follow your ideas and make many notes from your changes and customization for when we order ours. Keep them coming.

I wonder if this cor-mat insulation can be added to the door of an existing 2013 trailer (17B) with the thermal option and how much it might cost. Or, how much a new door with this insulation would cost??

Sounds to me, "mat" being applied between inner/outer shells. Does your door have double paned glass?

I'm not sure Jim. All I remember is being told that my optional kitchen and bathroom windows were not double-paned.

Jim is THE guru, especially as I think through options for my 21. I was 90% sure I would get a mercedes diesel powered sprint motor home - until I met Jim and saw his 19.
Jim, I want to publicly thank you for being so generous with your time, knowledge, and experience.

Correct, the kitchen/bath optional opening windows are single pane, non insulating, but boy are they nice in the rain. In the winter I cut some foam and placed it in these windows for better insulation properties. The door window maybe double paned as "standard" I'm not sure. But any insulation around that door area would help in the cooler temperatures.
