Hi: All...Thanks for the condolences...Julius will be missed. We used to visit back n forth and had a lot of laughs. I could have sketched the trailer myself, but he needed something to do while getting over surgery. He used to do hand drawn greeting cards and they are more special than ever now!!! Alf

Vicki and Donna, I have to tell you that I got to see an Escape 5.0 (July 2013 build) at the Copake rally, Tim's. I really liked it! I wasn't sure why people were getting so excited over the upcoming model but now I understand I thought it might be difficult to get up and down those stairs in the middle of the night but it really wasn't. I might have needed a little raised floor on that bottom step (I have arthritis) but it was doable.

I loved the dinette. They have the U-shaped dinette. Tim and his wife picked a nice blue stripe for the cushions and a darker blue for the Formica. Overall, this is a great trailer and I wish you both the best with your new ones.

Rosemary, my husband is 80 years old and mobility challenged. He manages just fine in the 5,0 - and this is our second! Reace and Dennis put strategically placed handles to help him haul himself out of bed, make it down the stairs, and even get in the trailer! If you need something to make your RV life easier, just ask and it's likely to be possible!

Rosemary, glad to hear from some who kinda changed her mind about the layout. That's what sharing info is all about. Pictures really aren't reality!

Congrats Donna...I haven't been on for a while, and your decision to get a 5.0 is thrilling. We've had HokieEscape since '09, and still love it! Heading to a mission project in the Kentucky Appalachians, tomorrow....we love it! Happy for you

My new trailer's name is Mobile Mansion 25ft which might become the next size Escape builds. Front walk around queen bed.

Hi: ChuckS... We chose "Escape Hatch II" because it'll be our second 5.0. Alf

Back from the Fall NOG. Good times with good friends! I chatted up the new 21' and my on-order 5er to anyone that would stand still and listen.

Dave&Kathie got their first production pictures on Saturday and they were busy showing those off, big ole grins on their faces.

gharper, I'm thinking about a Ford F-150 w/ Ecoboost. There's a number of folks towing Escape 19s with them and seem to like the truck real well. I'm not totally brand-specific though. Kinda like the looks of the new Chevy Silverado. It will be my daily driver, so MPG is important for those five day a week trips. I'll be checking on the deals available next May.

Donna - when we needed new countertops in our kitchen, Mary picked one of those new Formica ones that are made from actual photos of Italian marble and she loves it. I love it since the price difference between it and actual marble could buy us a trip to Italy!

Eric, I guess I need to be patient (hard to do!). Every year there's something new in either color or design. I'm just waiting for the ONE to grab me, like the fabric did.

Since you saved the money on the Formica... when's the trip to Italy?

We keep trying to plan it but end up taking off for some National Park in Blue instead!! That's the problem about these great little trailers we love traveling that way- it would be really hard to take it to Italy with us We went to Hawaii this spring and missed our little home away from home.

We were showing our first pictures around to anyone who would look at the NOG. At the Saturday potluck someone asked if they had seen our pictures and Rich answered 'Yes, I've seen the sonogram' ! 12 more days- we can barely stand it!

Donna - we know you're a Ford fan but we were also thinking that Silverado looked pretty slick! Tough choices!

Donna,
I have had several turbo's in my past and my experience is that they are taking a shortfall and trying to make it good. They are used on smaller engines to make them perform like larger engines. Eventually they break and are expensive to repair. Given a choice between the Silverado and Ford ecoboost, I'd go with the Silverado. I think it even comes with a flex fuel option.
