The Saga of the 2009 Oregon Gathering at Bandon

This all started a few years ago. Not too sure what happened, as our definition of roughing it is slow room service. In any event, wife, dog and me were off to Rice, Texas to pickup our new Casita. Had a great time on the journey.

That year, 2008, we did some camping mostly in state parks. One excuse of getting the Casita was to be used by our family. Our younger son, GoCougsKev,” and his lovely wife also used the Casita. Our older son and his family unfortunately lack the proper tow vehicle.

Last year, we made more trips in the Casita, the Washington get-together, the Redwoods and again some state parks. And the Oregon Gathering at Bandon.

The Casita, a 17 Sprite Deluxe, seemed okay to us. In spite of the tight quarters and low headroom in the bath/shower we were content.

And then we went to the Oregon Gathering. There it was, the Escape 19! It had space. It had headroom. The bath/shower did not have any rounder corners. It had a queen size bed. It was lightweight fiberglass travel trailer made just for us.

Returning home, talked with younger son about the Escape. He was very interested. Just to make sure what we saw at Bandon was the real deal, my lovely wife and I headed up to Chilliwack. We looked at the Escape 19 again. We asked questions. Our son gave us a list of modifications that he would like to have. We got the royal treatment from Tammy, Reace and George. We spend the night in Chilliwack and returned the next morning with new questions. We left, but not before we left a deposit.

GoCougsKev will be writing about the modifications/additions to our Escape.

There were several subsequence trips made to Chilliwack. Our son and his wife went there and even made a video of the nineteen footer, http://escapeforum.org/index.php?top...sg5077#msg5077
My son and I went there on two other occasions. And finally we, son and I, went Chilliwack on the 15th to pickup our Escape 19!

What a nice trailer! As I previously said, it has it all! -- space and a big bed.
Since the trip home with our new Escape, I have found only three problems. The stinky hose holder is too short for a hose that was a gift from my sister and brother-in-law (and an easy fix). I’m spending a lot of time on this forum –- thanks Jeff!! And finally, the last problem is that now is that there is no excuse to visit Escape Trailer Industries Ltd.

So here it is, our saga that began in Bandon last year and ended in Chilliwack this year.

Rick

Hi: Laura & Rick... I sure hope, for the sake of those of us that can't attend, you're going to do a play by play of the first Escape Trailer Rally. Alf

What? You are not coming! It's just down the road from you and, besides, with all the global warning it'll be a easy drive!
