Thinking of Buying a 19’

I am interested in a 19 but am concerned about their versatility. I like to boondock and get to out of the way places. Not thinking of 4-wheeling but forest service roads to trailheads. I plan on getting the high clearance kit. Any current owners have experience taking their Escape down forest service roads or with boondocking. Can this be done with a 19?

Thanks,

Virgil

Yes it can be done with a 19. Even with our standard axles (no high lift) we have boondocked off several rougher roads without issue. Definitely check out the thread that Dave linked above.

Remember, the high lift only raises the body (and plumbing) the axle tube(s) is still at the same height. IF that's a concern when thinking about high centering on rough roads.

Not to worry -- except on concrete ruts on certain roads. My rule of thumb is, if your tow vehicle won't like it your trailer certainly won't, either.

Ouch is right--Ruby Road, just a few lean and dusty miles from border security checkpoints and no GPS a few miles from Mexico--a nervous blast from the past. Never never cross one of these on foot.

Yah, I wince just remembering that.

Geez Myron, even cows know not to walk across the cattle guard.

Because of the method of construction, the Escape trailer is made for boondocking as you call it.
I come from the Yukon Territory.
Level roads and campgrounds can be a chore to find.
We have also been over a few in Alaska as well, though I have to admit roads are better condition in Alaska, than in the Yukon.
The method of construction of Escape Trailers is inherently strong, the clearance is as high as most vehicles.
All I can say is go for it.
