I have had these on two cars and a van that came with alloy wheels. One car is history, and I have switched the other two vehicles to normal nuts, because the keyed arrangement is an annoyance. If I lived in an area where the theft risk was greater, I would leave the keyed nuts on.

I notice that the motorhome doesn't have keyed nuts, even though its alloys are expensive, too. I suppose Ford figures that no one is likely to carry all the equipment and do all the work to steal wheels that they can't lift to carry away.

The Silverado ( 2013 ) with max tow package came with the keyed lugs and I agree that preventing loss of the "key" is an annoyance. The truck has 18" aluminum wheels which was part of the package...not an option I would have ordered but the overall price was good.
Thanks for the info on thread size Brian.

How has it been for you? Ease of use, etc.

It looks quite good.....

and it will NOT be our only security measure.... just one of a few.
