After much research I decided on these trailer locks. For the hitch it is Megahitch coupler vault. I suggest watching the video at their website. When I can afford it, it will be the Brahma wheel lock, It is pricey but when your talking a 30 000$ trailer not so much. Note be sure to lock up your safety chains. I always knew most hitch locks only keep the amateurs at bay.

That would do the trick, for sure. My new truck needs a chipped key though, the older Fords did not, and thus an easy theft target.

What I find distressing is the guy who so readily breaking the competetor's locks and is promoting his own product can't seem to figure out how to use the Sawzall on his own product and quickly "surrenders." Give me 3 minutes with the Sawzall and the Megahitch. Furthermore, it appears the Megahitch uses a cylindrical key. I know people who can easily pick these locks. Any lock can be picked. Persuasive video, but where is my salt shaker. I need a grain.

We had a similar thread about the same lock a few months ago. I'd need a boxcar of salt for their claim. Don't like phony biased claims of "testing" their competition and pretending to make their own product look better.

For years we have just had the coupler lock sold by Escape.
This year I saw the yellow wheel lock at PrncessAutofor $40.. Figured it was cheap enough for another security feature. (although we always have tire covers on so you can't see it anyway!)

We live on a fairly busy street, so lots of traffic going by (as well we are in a townhouse--so people are often in and out of their places) Other trailers around us that are bigger and just as accessible--But every bit of protection is good.

Easy peezy. Just right-click on the url window in the top of your browser (the one that has the address of the web page you're visiting) and select copy. Then when writing your post, right-click and select paste. Done. The link will appear in your post.

This is assuming of course that you're using Windows. Right-click is a common context menu function.

Well my eyes just opened. Watched that U-tube video of the guy backing up a truck, bypassing the trailer coupler and simply hauling away a trailer using nothing but its safety chains. Then watched another guy using bolt cutters to defeat my old Fulton Trailer Keeper. Gulp.

Yeah, that's common. A wheel boot would be much better. I was on another forum that I frequent and a fellow described how his flatbed trailer with a Bobcat on it was stolen in the same way. He had a receiver lock but they just hauled it away with chains.

I still think a Lojack would be the best. May not prevent the trailer from being taken, but you'd probably get it back, and would also have the delight of knowing a scumbag or two went to jail.

I believe no lock is 100%. That's why I'm doing both. I know for a fact that shackles are easy to break. I was just looking for the one that is the most pia to solve.

I think the tracking devices are a good idea. The thing that makes Lojack so appealing is that it's tied directly to law enforcement. You don't track the vehicle -- they do. Lojack gives the equipment to law enforcement agencies, and once a vehicle is entered into their stolen vehicle database, the system activates and it's tracked. They boast a 99% vehicle recovery rate, which is unheard of with the other guys.

Having said that, I sent them an E-mail months ago about pricing (RV installs fall under fleet recovery for some reason) and so far no response, so maybe their sales folks aren't as responsive as their recovery folks. And, it's not available everywhere.

If your trailer is at your house address you can have a extra sensor put on the trailer door and it will alert the same way a window or door in your house will .
My Daughter had one put on my trailer at her house . I didn't ask if there was a extra charge .
