Where is the space for a dog in 17B ?
An interesting thread on travelling with dogs, we are getting ready to travel with our "Happy" a 20 lb rescue Schnauzer Mutt in our brand new 17B.
17B suits us in most ways except the Shower is too small & not much floor space for a small dog.
I could not see a 17 before ordering it sight unseen.
I am curious to know, where do you guys keep the dog(s) ? Where does he mostly sit in the Trailer ? How do you move around in the Trailer without stepping on the dog. I suppose one possible place is under the front smaller Dinette.
Thanks

Can't help.
Dog went wherever comfortable.
Crossed that bridge, so we no longer have to worry about traveling with pets.

Our dogs move out of the traffic area to snooze on their beds, which we toss under a dinette table when in our trailer. They figure out the safest place after being stepped on a few times.

LOL. We have a 6 1/2 month old mixed breed Bernese, Poodle, Aus Sheppard that now weighs in at around 26kg (about 56 lbs). We get our 17b in December. Errrr.....she gets her trailer in December. That's a lot of dog and will fill a lot of floor space.

Thanks for the responses, & Glenn for the picture
We will find out in our first camping trip in next few weeks.
We think a 19 or a 21 would have been better for 3 of us to travel in comfort, but will have to wait for a year or two for that.

Many here have changed to another trailer. You can likely sell yours for near what you paid, especially in Florida.

Our dog is 11# so she is small enough that it is not much of an issue. She has a small bed that goes on the dinette cushion during the night and is moved to the bed during the day. She is quite good at leaping up on the bed. Agile little rat terrier!

Mine were on the bed or the dinette seat or by the door I have two dogs a standard Schnauzer and a jack Russel they fit pretty well in my 17 but I travel alone - now with the 5.0 we should have plenty of room

I always waited until I needed to refill the propane tanks before selling my prior Escapes, saved me a trip to the propane dealer....!!!

I read this with a grin - the space for our dogs is wherever they lie (most often on the open floor area); we move around very carefully. 17B, wife and I, two 100#+ dogs; it's worked out somehow for 5 years...

If we are doing stuff in the trailer we have Jasper lay under the table. He likes it there, sorta like his own den. Same with past dogs.

It is nice that they let you in there! Yes, dogs come first. And cats.

I am looking at names and I still really like that name, Jasper. He is so much better behaved than I am, however. You would never get me under the table.

Our first trailer-traveling dog (13 ft then a 16 footer) was Ben. When Ben clocked out he weighed 70 pounds and had always slept on the trailer beds with us. His last year the legs failed him and I would lift him up there. We tried a dog bed on the floor once but it took up too much room and Ben never liked it.
Josie, the new one, full of energy and an instinctive appreciation for what's right, never hesitated from day one. Better than a hot water bottle.

We travel with a 80# German Shepard. She is generally happy in the trailer if we go sightseeing for a few hours. She takes her space our of the center aisle, one reason we didn't get a Casita after renting one for a week.
When we have more extensive plans, we have been able to find day boarding. In Park City, Utah we used a local vet. In Palm Springs and near Hearst Castle, we used sitters which we found using the app "Rover". It works a lot like AirBnB. You can search using parameters which are important to you and get information on the conditions in the home and a rating on the person's service. After your first time, they also get a rating on your dog. If s/he is well behaved, it makes it easy to find someone.
