Travelling with a cat. What works for us.
We value a good night sleep much more than cat companionship so they've stayed home over the years. A new, mellow cat gave us the courage to try bringing her along. So far so good! Here's what works for us:
We had Escape leave the doors off the under bed storage compartment. I store two large plastic boxes in the rear of the under bed compartment with rarely used items and hold them in place with a cut down shower rod and plastic receptacles. The space between the boxes and front of the under bed storage is ideal for the cat to hang out, for her litter box, food and water. Ann made up a curtain that slides onto an expansion rod. The cat can see the world over the top of the curtain and seems very happy, safe and content in there. She was spooked at first and didn't drink enough water. We bring the 110v bubbler along and plug it into the plug under the refrig. During the day when we're in and out, she wears a harness and leash, and seems fine with it. Here are a couple pictures.
