Using memory foam for throw pillows
Okay, this question might seem silly to some, but I'm really unfamiliar with memory foam. My first experience was on the bed in the motor home I rented. While it worked fine for that trip, it's nothing I want all the time for sleeping on.
I just got the "brilliant" idea of cutting up the foam and using it for the throw pillows in the u-shaped dinette. I've got tons of fabric to use, so no worries on searching that out. Whew!
However, I don't know if the memory foam will be a bad idea to use on pillows that we'll be putting behind our backs or next to us to rest our arms on. I know it smooches down when you lay on it, but will it not provide enough support when laying against it?
I'm hoping others on this forum have used memory foam for throw pillows and can provide some input.
Thanks much!

I have actually purchased memory foam bed pillows from Costco that are now an absolute must for me. These comprise a zillion cut-up pieces of memory foam, not one piece. I also made a pillow out of some left over foam from that used as a topper for my bed in the trailer. It works fine as long as the pieces are relatively small and the case is packed as full as possible to avoid "flattening"--otherwise there's no support.

Thanks Karen. So, you're suggesting that I cut up the foam into smaller bits if I want to use it for throw pillows. Instead of one piece, which is what I was thinking of doing.
Boy, what a pain that will be to cut up. Yeah, might have to rethink this brilliant idea.

Hmm.....an arbourist's chipper maybe !
My preference for pillow comfort is feather/down or dacron fibrefill - pretty sure cutting memory foam into tiny bits would seriously turn me to foam .....

I have a Tempur-Pedic memory foam pillow at home. It's small, dense, and heavy. Shredded memory foam as has been discussed might work for your purpose, but not a solid one, due to the density.

Electric knife works good on foam, should work good on memory foam as well. Maybe. Carl
