Veterans Day

Today we honor those who served in our military. I would like to also honor those who are currently serving along with their families.

THANK YOU. From a very grateful free citizen.

Veterans Day

Hi Donna
Thanks for reminding all of us that it is indeed Veteran's Day. I have many great memories of Veteran's Days past. Veterans Day parades, supper table conversations, and hunting excursions with my dad and my cousins and brothers. My dad was First Army. Third Armored Division, "Spearhead", 32nd Armored Regiment. Company B. Call sign "Oriole"
Their motto should give us all cause to honor this day.

My family had a rear gunner and a pilot on B-29's and a "screaming eagle paratrooper" of the 101st airborne who went in before the invasion on D Day as well as several Rosie the riveter women in the steel factories in Pittsburgh. Myself, a 4 year vietnam veteran, upon discharge added another 32 years with the government before retiring 10 years ago.

Here too: Thank YOU!!
My dad was sought after by the Germans for helping people in hiding. My father in law was in the Dutch army, witnessing too much. Never wanted to speak about it.
LET'S NOT FORGET!!
From a very grateful free citizen.

Yes, thank you veterans and those currently serving. My Dad was 9th air force, Army Air Corps in Europe running communications for a fighter wing. I remember his many stories. Thanks to the brave for keeping us free!

A salute to all my fellow veterans. USAF 1979-1990.

And yes, I count my Canadian brethren among them, since Armistice Day is what later became Veterans Day, and Canada fought along side Americans to end that war.

I have a son who has been in the Persian Gulf (Active Navy Reserves) for the past 10 months. He just returned this past Monday to the US and is in Norfolk. Unfortunately he will not be back home for Thanksgiving. He said several hundred reservists arrived in Norfolk at about the same time and that it will take time (weeks) for all to go through medical and the dismissal process. Looks like early December before he comes home. Can't wait. My maternal grandfather served in the Navy in WW1. One time I asked my grandmother what my grandpa's job was in the war. She said he shoveled coal in to the engines. Maybe one of the worst jobs. Very hot. He also afterwards was in the Merchant Marine.
I am very proud of my son.

For all of us who depend on those who are currently serving in the guard and reserve, let your son know his his service to the country is genuinely appreciated. Whether at home or abroad, we appreciate all their efforts.

A family member served as a Navy radar operator in World War II. He had some choice, and asked why he chose that, he explained that the position was above the waterline and somewhat protected inside.

Whatever the role, I appreciate the service of all veterans.
