Well, it's all over but for the waiting

Yep. It's all over except for the waiting and the long marathon trip from Florida to Chilliwack, which will be nowhere as much fun as the extended return trip home. Build list has been signed and financial matters completed. Well, it's almost all over. I still have to get the paperwork from Tammy so that I can transfer the tag that was on my Scamp to the Escape, notify the insurance company to activate coverage on the Escape, and order Sirius for the time period we will be gone. I usually stream music from my phone but I figure a 4-5 day drive is not conducive to fiddling with the phone or searching for acceptable radio stations. Sirius hasn't been activated since my so-called trial period ended! I've even made preliminary arrangements for the lawn (if it can be called that!) to be tamed while we are away, so I won't have to clear a forest upon our return. And, of course, to load stuff into the TV. Notifying the insurance company, turning on Sirius, and loading the truck can be accomplished in 1 or 2 hours. The tag transfer will be the most painful; probably an hour-and-a-half and $2,500 + or - in Florida sales taxes, transfer fees, and title application fees. Sure wish I could have the same warm feeling about government as I know I will have about my new Escape!

I want to thank everyone on the forum who has provided me with valuable information, especially those who answered far more than just a couple of questions for me (Donna D, Charlie Y, AKA Tractors, and Alf). But I truly appreciate all the other individuals not specifically named who took the time to assist me in the decision making process. It really has been a long, strange trip! (I do hope Sirius still has a channel dedicated to the Dead!)

And if all goes well, I look forward to meeting a lot of you at the rally in Osoyoos.

I agree. A printed (paper) conversion from an apparently reliable source such as Royal Bank of Canada convinced my reluctant DMV that the taxed figure should be the lower figure.

RBC today shows $7877 per $10,000. DMV still double checked the website, but it was worth it.

you can try this link for getting a "deal" on siriusxm inactive radios:
https://care.siriusxm.com/winback_view.action

you can also try re-upping the car radio as a new one (new email address, new account number) for a 2 month free trial.

Amen to that Carl. We're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Heading out in less than 30 days if all goes well.

Fat fingers and data phones don't mix.

I had Tammy send me a copy of the paperwork with the total in USD for the MA RMV. They were going to charge me taxes on whatever the bill of sale had on the bottom line, without conversion.

At our local Tax & Tag office here in Pensacola they were simply going to look up the exchange rate on Google and use that for the tax - at least that's what they started to do until I showed them the paperwork for what I actually paid in US dollars. (It probably cost me a little more that way but at least I knew I was being honest about it and there wouldn't be any later consequences as a result.) I don't think they were experienced in the process, especially when the fellow in charge asked "what do they call their money in Canada, anyway?"

Being in our late 60s I was a bit apprehensive about the trip from Florida to Chilliwack, but we ended up really enjoying it.
