Is "Snob Hill" at Quartzite an Escape thing?

I was once called "an Escape snob" at a Casita rally, and was quite taken aback.

But now I wonder if the lady was making a private joke that I just wasn't in on?

It is a ridge a short distance above the main event area of the rally. We set up there last year before ever knowing this. While this label is pretty much totally in jest, it is where the Oliver folks set up, so that might have something to do with it.

Anyway, because we set up there we were labelled a Snob Hill resident, but it is a label I wore with pride. A darn sight better than being a Bottom Dweller like those that were down on the lower level. Though, who knows, maybe I will be a bottom dweller this year, if they would even accept my kind.

Was wondering the same .I do feel more comfortable being up higher . Even our home is on a hill . What's the saying " wise man builds home on high ground " or something like that . Pat

Snob Hill... looking down on others. Funny metaphor. I'd wear the badge with pride and then spend a lot of my time with the Bottom Dwellers enjoying their company too.

It does afford a bit better view, and it is not all that much higher, and only a minute walk to the main area.

Your presence would elevate the status of those bottom dwellers, and I am sure you would be gratefully accepted into their realm. I fear with the disdain I cast upon them my presence might be scorned, though I am kinda pushy and they can't throw me out. LOL

"Papineau" our Burmese cat has been known to wander the bottom dwellers gulch, but he prefers the Snob HIll gulch for it's better sand traps (and fewer dogs).

Sadly we will not be making a choice at Dome Rock this year. Verna's New Years eve present was a new right knee. See y'all next year.

As you can tell by now, these are all terms of endearment that have developed over the years at the Quartzsite Gathering. At the first Quartzsite there were only 21 trailers and we were all in a circle at the main loop. With 208 trailers last year and over a 3mi circumference of our camping area, funny area names have naturally developed.
The only one who is potentially in trouble is the Gulch Dweller. It is really a Wash and if there is a 100 year flood Ron will be in Mexico in the morning when he wakes up. There is also a gas pipeline that runs underneath the Gulch or Wash, so a small leak and a cigar smoker may take care of the entire issue.
I might also add, that unlike most any other gatherings, we potentially still have room for upwards of 10,000 trailers. That could get really interesting.

Nah, not a great shade tree and I'll be aiming for a spot closer to the action this year.

Sand traps. No, lots of sand but it's packed with rocks and solid to drive on. Great place for a rock hound.

I'm usually up on 'snob hill' - more view and breeze, but also lots of little prickly things that my dog doesn't like - so this year I'm a little lower.
