what was I thinking!
After several road trips and 22k miles with our Escape 19, Ann and I heard a radio ad and thought we'd go take a look at something a "little bigger". We pulled into a new rv dealer in SoCal yesterday and drove away 45 minutes later shaking our heads after being insulted by salespeople who were clueless about what was on their lot and got upset because we didnt want to go in and fill out a credit ap. I knew we were in trouble when we took the golfcart tour of their 63 acre lot! We saw bowed walls, shower doors that came off their tracks, staples, glue and sloppy caulking, cheap fiberboard cabinets, and not one I'd buy even if I won the lottery! My favorites were the "toy haulers" with names like Extreme, Sandstorm, Adrelin, and Monster with vinyl murals of grizzly bears and volcanos! Wow, what an afternoon.
Bottom line: we love our Escape! I told Ann to put me out of misery if I ever did that again! Reace and Tammy, you created something really GREAT and sadly, unique in the RV world!

Volcanoes? Really? Doesn't sound like good marketing to me.

Volcanoes are on the tamer side. What passes for tasteful graphics on RVs these days is pretty amazing.

Ah c'mon, I thought you Texas boys had a sense of adventure? I suspect the volcanos get bumped down your way by longhorns.

I remember back to the first day we visited ETI. After touring several Escapes we drove down the road to a dealer selling the little Pod type trailers. We stuck our heads into one trailer. I remember touching the thin roof and sides comparing that trailer's construction to an Escape"s.
At that time we were thinking about going very small. But after seeing the construction of the Pods and the Escapes we never looked back. Perhaps there are some Pods that have better construction than the one we saw, but that was our experience.

A sense of adventure, yes. Emblazoning cheezy vinyl volcanoes all over the trailer, no. Now a set of real Texas Longhorns mounted on the front.....there's an idea.

I was thinking that images of volcanoes might remind potential buyers of possible plumbing problems down the road...

I liked the one that had the fireplace inside!
What an interesting business model the mass market rv folks have adopted. I'd bet it's all based on impulse buying and easy credit. Sure doesn't have much to do with selling quality. One salesman told me about what a great brand Winnebago is. I asked why and all he could tell me was the had a big building and powder coated their screws.
After looking at these over the years, I've figured them out. The plan is to get credit approval and get it off the lot! Wow!

Sean, that was a good one. Just what we need on this forum, another wise guy!
Does your volcano come in Iguana Green? We do have standards to uphold, it must be color coordinated!

One? Electric "fireplaces" are (or were, a few years ago) pretty much standard equipment in larger fifth-wheels and class A motorhomes.

My husband and I are coming at it from a different way. We toured those lots and the RV shows, but nothing really jumped out at us, screaming "you need this". There were some possibles, but they didn't feel right. I rented a 32' (or 34' forget now - huge SOB) motorhome for a month, even though I knew we weren't going to get a motorhome. Wanted to see if I liked the lifestyle and all that. We've never owned a trailer or a motorhome or a tent. After the trip I found out about Escapes.
But when we stepped inside a 21' - WOW! We were blown away by it. We knew it was right for us. And after touring a 19 footer and the 5.0TA, we still know it's right for us.
