Actually you can slit the tape with a thin blade, then remove your widget. The remaining tape comes off if heated with a blow dryer or heat gun - the adhesive residue cleans up easily with acetone or nail polish and won't harm fiberglass (as in the shower.)

Or, if you want to spend a little more, I use a 3M Eraser wheel. Since 3M 45 tape is normally used to mount body moldings, spoilers and other accessories, the wheel is designed to remove the foam tape/residue from larger areas on the clearcoat of a vehicle. It makes short work of removing it from fiberglass. Just mount it to a drill.

We put the larger one in the bath below the sink early on this trip. After 18,000 +/- miles it has not come off the wall yet although some things have bounced out.
