5.0 modifications
I have been working on some minor modifications on our 5.0 TA since we picked it up last spring. The trailer has been so nice and comfortable on the trips we have taken with it so far but I have had fun making some minor changes that make it a little more comfortable. I have been so impressed and inspired with some of modifications people in this group have done, although mine are small in comparison, maybe some are new. I am new to posting here and just realized the photo’s have to be in landscape format.....The Lagun table that I got on eBay just went in today, we are really pleased with how it opens up all that leg space, it swing real easy from side to side so it’s real easy to get in and out of the seats. The seat it is mounted to needed to be streghthend but was otherwise pretty simple to install. The other pictures are of a pullout garbage door utilizing the dead space in the cabinet by the door. There is still quite a bit of space that could be used in there for something, hmmm?......I opened up the top step which worked out great for storing two nice folding tables....some pull out drawers in the pantry cabinet next to the fridge has eliminated a lot of hassle digging through the trying to find the crackers at the back! ... The mini nightstand on the bed has worked out great for coffee in bed in the morning, it sits in the space between the bed and the outer wall, two legs had to be shortened because they sit on the nail strip for the carpets.

Nice mods ! Especially like your use of space for trash can . Question your profile says you have a 2002 5 th trailer . Did Escape make a 5 th wheel in 2002 ? Pat

Nice mods. The trash can at the door can be handy for whether you are in or out.

A couple more
A couple more modifications that I have been busy with. Velcro seems to be pretty handy around the trailer for cords and stuff but it also worked good to strap the tv to the wall when not in use, which seems to be pretty much all he time! ..... We used to unload the medicine cabinet and throw it in a bag for traveling but the Velcro was a simple fix for that, back out the screws and putting it through the Velcro and back again. ....We use a little electric heater when we are using shore power, no matter where it got put it always ended up being in the way, the space under fridge had just the carbon monoxide sensor so I relocated it under the plug in the seat and made this little spot for it, it would be great to put it on a thermostat but will save that for another day.. Creatied a little shelf in the bath with some 1/4 inch stainless steel rod and some pieces of plastic that are attached with a few dabs of silicone chalking. ....The cabinet doors above the sink and stove were really small but have a pretty large space inside them, it’s a bit of work enlarging the opening but makes the so much easier to use. ( Opps, I wasn’t paying attention to the fact that all the other door have the grain running vertical ). I was surprised the little door lift was up to the task of supporting the larger doors ..... We also put the led ribbon lights up under the cabinets of the bed and table cabinets that’s hidden behind a little piece of trim, it is a nice suttle light in the evening, no pictures yet.

😎Really like your little railing in the bathroom!
Curious about your little cube heater, does it move enough air in that confined space?

I like the idea of the cubby for the electric heater as I constantly knock ours over. Probably just me but I'd worry about leaving it running in such a small space, must be some sort of clearance specs for such. As it is now I move mine out into the middle of the trailer at night.

I have had good luck with a Broan bath heater installed one in my last 3 Escapes. They are made for enclosed, confined areas https://www.amazon.com/Broan-174-Hea...ay&sr=8-9&th=1

Korker, how did you remove the top step without destroying the wood or frame structure? I have been wanting to use that storage space as well.

Once you get the glued down carpet off you can unscrew it, I cut a new piece of plywood the old one was made in two pieces. You will need two 1 1/2 inch filler pieces on each end of the step so it will clear the wardrobe door and the drawer face on the other side when you open the stair hatch, ( I used red oak ). A piano hinge worked well attached to the top of the stair tread and the face of a 1/2” piece of wood attached to the back wall.I had to add a pice of backing in the exterior storage compartment to attach the wood to. Between trips to the hardware store, Home Depot for a piece of carpet that matched pretty close, it was a full day! It is a really great space to have.

Thank you. The carpet looked like the original in the picture and I thought somehow you removed it whole. This makes more sense. Keep the modifications up, it inspires the rest of us!

Nice! Kevin, on the sliding drawers you built for the pantry... are those mounted on bottom slides? IF so, what are they and where did you get them? TIA.

Very jealous of your upper cabinet door mod, we tried to get ETI to do that on our build sheet but they would not.

It works fine in there, there is more space around it than the picture shows. Jim Bennett’s suggestion of a small Broan wall mount heater looks like a good idea, not sure where he put it.

I put mine in the first step of the stairs using a toe kick(space) model. We use it all the time we need heat and have hookups.
