RE: Electric Hot Water Switch

Jon,

I'm judging by your comment about the breaker that you wired your electric hot water switch through the breaker circuit, as opposed to the on/off switch in the water heater compartment? I looked at that switch in the compartment and saw no way to move it or tap into it short of removing the water heater.

Bob

Yes. I probably should have taken a photo of the breaker panel to show how - I ran a piece of 14/2 Romex between the switch & the panel, disconnected the original wire from the 15 amp breaker, wire nutted it to one of the #14 wires to the switch & ran the other to the breaker.

Jon,
Anyway to make that a lighted switch to indicate when it is "on" or one with an indicator light, similar to your green led mod on the other switch?

Sure - you would need to run 3 wire cable so you could make the neutral run, & use a switch that has a light. I didn't want that since I usually leave the electric on all the time when I'm in a campground that has 30 amp hookups, and I already have enough electronics with lights in the trailer doing their best to keep me awake!

If you ever do get around to a photo of the breaker panel it would certainly help we "non-electricians"!! I also have the lighted switch mod for the propane side and, like you, don't need another LED glowing at night. While I can turn that one off, I can't do much abou the refrigerator.

I'll add a photo the next time I pull the bed & stuff stored under it, but it probably won't be for awhile - I finally got things back together!

Jon - how are you enjoying your West Marine chairs? Are they as comfy as they look and do they work well in the dinette bench spots?

Yea! Inquiring minds want some feedback on those chairs, Jon. They as comfortable as they look?

I like the chair, and it is comfortable. I still don't use it as much as I expected because I seem to always find myself sitting on the bed & eating at the table extension. Old habits are hard to kill!
