I missed the first post, too. What is the door grab handle's purpose?

PS: No slip-ups yet, both work great.

Nice one, Myron.
For a little style to it (and to avoid scrapes from the pipe end), you could put 90° ells at each end.

Sleepy: The idea is to first decide on a grab handle height that's comfortable. 2 bolts are spaced as seen, through to the wood. I used ¼-20 hex bolts. Blocks serve to bring handle forward and are also cut at an angle. Easy to grab. Handle mounting brackets are screwed into wood.

Me, I am 250 pounds. Make the handle so when your full weight is pulling you up, it don't come off in your hand.

Bobbie: my ballet career is soo long over. Need all the help I can get. I'm right handed so my vertical grab bar makes pulling up into the trailer easier. The horizontal one makes for a safer exit.

I find the stripper pole to be indispensable with exiting the Escape....

Bought an extra fire extinguisher the other day. Costco, $14.99. Seemed prudent given terrible recent news. Simple corner bracket for its hangar is screwed into corner framing other side of stove wall at foot of bed.

Have heard a lot of complaints made hereabouts about sleeping comfort when the temperature outside gets cold. No pillow is big or long enough. Night-time drafts from the emergency exit window at the head of the bed are the trouble. Finally got around to doing something about it. Cut a piece of Reflectix to fit neatly inside the pull down shade. Fits snug enough to remain in place. No stiffeners are needed and rolls right up for storage when not needed.

Geez, Myron, if there was an award for "making the trailer your own" you'd get it. There's a couple of your mods in the photo that I hadn't seen before.

Yes, reflectix is handy stuff, I put it in the hatch openings in winter.

The bed area is my favorite mod-spot in the trailer.

Was recently in the hunt for building my own strip of under cabinet LED lights, using the blue bulbs on hand. But I don't speak electronics and my algebra is suspicious.

After several failed trips to an electronics store, searching for the right combo of resistors for a row of 6 LED's, I decided to stop that madness. Went to the stove, took down the strip I had installed under the range hood several years ago. The perfect all-night light. It was LED's I liberated from the back of a junked car. Would learn how Detroit did it.

Because I was too clever by half when I did that first install I totally forgot how well I hid the screws that reattached the hood back under the cabinet. It ended up ugly. Then, I busted the wire leads going up into the back of the switch. Re-soldering that is work best done by a brain surgeon. Fortunately I had a fresh back up LED strip in my tool box, complete with wire leads. That worked. Oh, also had to replace their switch I busted. (Murphy x 3)

I still want that blue LED strip for the dinette area and some day I will figure out how to make one. Meanwhile, found/ordered LED tape online with a neat remote that changes colors at will.

Myron - for future projects, leave the choice of LED/Resistor choices & soldering up to others - a bit more expensive, but saves lots of frustration in the long run - 50 pack of 12V LEDs

It always amazes me when I'm taking apart something that I designed years ago. Especially when I have the thought "who the ...... designed this and thought it was a good idea".

A few months ago really thought I had run out of mods to do on the trailer. So it seemed at the time. But things are different now. Got to get out there or go nuts. The mask is on, the need has become hallucinogenic. OK, Ron, Jon, and the rest of you guys, then therapeutic - even medicinal. There must be some project to get me distracted from this new normal.

Pouring through my workbench piles of junk. There was this foot-long LED strip I made but gave up on. By the bed - it could plug into the cigarette outlet I will never use. But where on the wall to attach it? I dug outside through a pile of juniper firewood. My old mounting plaque for furnace thermostat and digital clock on the wall could be made nicer, if not better, with an upgrade. Table saw therapy is an effective time-wasting utility when sheltering in place. A project is born.
