A few modifications to my 19

I found a Polypropylene cutting board in Walmart that is 15 x 20 inches, the perfect size to use as a stove top cover for my 2-burner. Board: $12.79. Made sides from wood scraps half inch thick, by 1¾ inches high, by the length of the board. Drilled holes for wood screws

At near completion I realized this thing could also do double duty as a neat serving tray, or for like when you want to eat soup in bed. So, before adding the end piece I sawed out a hand-grab.

Finished it off with 2 coats Deft semi-gloss brushing lacquer.

I love it when you can use something 3 different ways….nice work Myron. Just think, if we had more multi=use items we could haul around less "stuff".

Nice job Myron. You bet me to it. I cut the wood for the same type of stove cover/tray a couple of weeks ago but haven't gotten around to buying a cutting board yet. At least now I know what it'll look like.

Dare I ask why there's only a handle cut-out on one end? I think I'll put handles on both sides because I envision it carrying brimming full glasses of something cold and I wouldn't want to spill any.

Thanks... I had already drilled a hole in the board at dead center and screwed the end in place, wood screw dead center, where the grab handle opening would be, otherwise it would have handles at either end. Plus, glued the corners. Then, the serving tray idea hit me. Decided, no matter...still easy enough to handle.

This is a hefty cutting board so there's no chance of it flexing or bouncing off while in transit, but as a serving tray it ain't quite what grandma would want to lift.

Myron, another great idea for a multi-purpose mod. I have been formulating an idea for a stove cover too but haven't gotten around to it yet. I cant wait for retirement.

Two little but practical mods...

• Shelf for 10 inch sauté pan is up high to accommodate handle overhang
• 1x2" bar keeps doors shut in transit.

Watched that video --suggests food sticks just as well on a "non-stick" pan as a Dometic cools in Texas. Feeling not so bad my new "non-stick" 10-incher only cost me $13 at WallyWorld. Came with a lid, too.

Latest project: I cut a hole underneath the furnace yesterday. I did it because after pulling the furnace out to easily run new wires for that other project I had one hell of a time returning that bugger back in place. Two screws hold it to the wall and it sits on an internal cross brace, but the exhaust tube must slip into its mate attached to the outside bezel. That was the rub, big time. Such a G-D snug fit I had to hammer the furnace home to get it completely in. It was a bear.

Maybe I just got spooked, but utter frustration resulted in my peeling up the floor panel of the wardrobe above, and cutting that hole below the furnace, all in the major effort to better see what I was doing and getting a hand in there to confidently mate them two pipes.

Woke up very early this AM, pondering now, how to make the new storage hole look nice.

Shoe storage space, it will also dry out your wet shoes when running.

Yep. Been feeling like I been spelunking... Have considered moving the fumes detector sensor factory installed underneath the furnace, to make for a bigger new storage hole (wet boots, etc.). But note there just isn't anywhere to put it.

I believe there is some room/space behind on the piece to the right of your converter that goes across the front, you may be able to squeeze it in along the bottom which has the largest space available.

Myron, have you looked at the mod markvt posted a few days ago. It relates directly to that area. I'm going to do the same thing as well as open up the cabinet end under the flip-up counter. I'm just going to order the doors from ETI.

Just looked over markvt's mod. Very interesting and sensible. Not ready to be moving LP lines at the moment though. (Still recovering from moving that bloody furnace around.) What are you planning for under the flip-up counter?

I will have to get out to the trailer to look over that spot at bottom front, CP-h.
