I have various USB power adapters, both 120VAC and car (12VDC lighter socket) powered. I avoid buying any with less than 2A output now, because it is really aggravating to find that I have power, an adapter, a suitable cord... and still can't charge the device. This is most often a problem with my BlackBerry, but an iPad would be in a similar situation.

Since there is always 12VDC power in the trailer (either from the battery, or if on shore power from the converter), it seems logical to me use 12VDC-powered USB adapters.
