Art Materials

We have sooo many questions. Have been pouring over every thread on this forum. We have only seen the inside of an Escape 19 one time at a campground in Florida a few weeks ago, and here we are, already signed up for our own 19. Yay!!!

Has anyone made any modifications to accommodate art materials--specifically watercolors? I am trying to figure out where I'll put paints, paper, and wet paintings. Was able to use the back overhead bin in the Casita. Not sure how big the top cabinets are in the Escape. This is too much fun! Thank you all for your posts!

Escapes have a good amount of storage. If it fits in your Casita, you should have no issues in an Escape.

We went forma Casita to an Escape 19'. You cannot imagine the difference in storage. In the Casita there was never enough room, in the Escape we have so much room and storage, there are even empty spots.

Thanks. Good to know there is lots more storage in the Escape. Can someone tell me the actual inside measurements of the over-the-bed cabinets--depth and height?

Welcome fellow Tennessean

Good to see another Tennessean getting an Escape. My 21' will be completed on the 26th and hopefully will be deliveredd here to Ashland City shortly thereafter. Where is Wyatt located? I couldn't find it on Google. Greg and Teresa in Lewisburg are getting a 17' in July. Anyway, welcome to forum. Have you sold your Casita?

Similar to Casita cabinets, but more of them, and...

I'm thinking this is a question for ETI, since all the molds are changing and it seems likely to me that the interior cabinet dimensions would be affected. (Straighter walls instead of slightly curved.)

I will check with Escape about cupboard sizes. Need the Casita for a couple of trips this summer. Will try selling it after. It's a 2010 17' LD with several modifications that we had done at Larry's in TX. Still love it but need a bit more room.

Hi: Trav... Tell Art that materials storage is his problem!!! I believe that all upper cupboards are 12"s deep and the doors are as large as possible to function. Reace never leaves much space unused!!!
All cupboards shown are in a 5.0TA. Some may not be avail. in other trailers. Alf

The overhead cabinets measure 11 3/4 inch inside along the bottom between the shell insulation and the face framing for the door. On 21s the door opening is 6 inches high, the 19s are a not quite as tall - maybe 5 1/2. The shell side is curved like the back of this divider:

Charlie, I'm thinking you'll need to revise your measurements slightly for the 2017 models, since there's less curve to the outer walls.

I wonder if those measurements should be metric, not imperial. Made in Canada, eh!!
Sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity.

Tammy did say there would be a bit more room in the cabinets but not much. When the 21' is completed and ready for viewing, I plan to go up there and take wads of measurements (and photos, of course!). I could do it with the 19 as well, when it's ready for viewing, if folks want that. I'll post both bits of info here on a different thread, when the time comes.

Probably not much more depth horizontally as the size they use now results in 4 strips cut from a 4x8 standard sheet of wood; less the kerf cuts. Any wider and their cabinet makers would be wasting wood.

I watercolor in my 19 - you can fit small sketchbooks, paint etc in the upper cabinets, but for paper, gator board supports etc, I use the wardrobe or the storage under the bed or dinette. Even my travel easel fits nicely.

Most of the change in shell shape is not so much a replacement of curves with straight lines, but a removal of slope in the sides in favour of straight up and down - the areas with windows and lower access doors (much of the wall height for most of the length) are still flat and all the corners are still curved. That does affect cabinets - the further you are from the seam, the greater the difference. How much difference? Well, at the bottom of the body the wheels (and frame to match) are moved four inches further apart:

The change in interior width - perhaps all found in the cabinets rather than the passageway between them - should be a similar dimension (4" total of both sides).
