Awning shade

Does anyone know someone who makes the see through mesh awning shades that slide in the track on a carefree or other RV awning.

A number of Casita owners have purchased awning products from Susan. Little House Customs used to have her contact information on their website. I just looked and it's not there now. I've contacted Larry and Debbie to see if there's a new way to contact Susan. I've purchased from her and her products are very well made and certainly reasonably priced. I'll post here when I hear further. In the meantime, perhaps others have the information you seek.

I contacted Susan Littke and she doesn't make shades anymore.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

Well shoot. I know you can get commercially made shades from places like Camping World. Search - carefree of colorado awnings - Camping World

Or, maybe check with Marti? http://www.martisawnings.com/vintage...nings-faq.html

Didn't know something like this existed! Will they fit on the Escape's awning?

If you sew (I don't), I know you can purchase the screen fabric at places like JoAnn's. Just would need to figure out the "hanger" part.

Carefree of Colorado, maker of the awning. I bought the full mesh screen and a side panel. Both are too long and drag in the dirt so I had them cut down and new grommets added for $40. The awning mesh rolls up into the awning enclosure. Very happy with them.

Awning spline / hanger

Several, items. You can buy a screen from Carefree website or other sites for about $100. You can also get side panels. The material is really stiff, however and they are expensive. If you want to make one, you can attach it to the front part of the awning in several ways. You can buy awning spline ("The hanger Part") here at Sailrite (Awning & Sling Chair Spline Cording) and loop fabric over it e.g. screen mesh, fabric, whatever you want, and sew the spline into a pocket which will then slide into the groove on the rolling part of your awning. The two additional pictures on Sailrites web page show you how the spline goes in the fabric AND they show the roller that the spline goes in.

The other idea is that you could use what we use, which is the little splines you buy at Camping World to attach lights. These also slide into the groove and you can attach whatever fabric you want to those as well. We use an IKEA shower curtain attached to these and the beauty of these, as opposed to the spline, is that you can draw the sunshade to one side or the other.

So, several methods if you are the least bit handy and don't want to spend $100+ for the front and side sun screens from Carefree.
