Back Stabber on the blinds

That little round spool thingy on the bottom corners of the blinds is mounted on a metal triangle thingy that ETI designed as a rework of the blinds from their supplier - the OEM spoolie mount is a kinda ugly galvanized bracket ( I ordered a shade from them through ETI.) Thinking it should be possible to make a similar mount from a more forgiving plastic polymer that will bend back when you lean into it instead of drilling a pain spot in your neck. However, it would probably need to be painted to match the window frames; curious if folks thought that might be an issue.........

Looking to make a replacement for the existing metal part; no change to the string itself. String isn't really under much tension.

Ditto. Another thing I don't do anymore: reach for something on the counter behind the stove without turning my head to the side first. Ouch!

From your description im not completely sure if I have the same hardware but those plastic pieces are weak! I've had a few chip or break already, which loosens the tension on the blind string. It's an easy fix, but still...

The factory piece is a pain in our back/shoulder too. Please let us know how your solution works.
We currently wrap a short piece of black foam pipe insulation around it, but haven't found a way to make it permanent.

When the blinds are raised there is a lot of tension on the strings, enough to play a tune on them, while down, the tension is released.

I got some cushion foam at a fabric store I folded into a tight block that fit inside a custom pillow wifey made for me. That plus a couple more WallyWorld pillows has done it for me.

My usual position for lounging inside is to sit with my back against the front wall. The first couple of times I did that thoughts crossed my mind about ways to get rid of those back stabbers.

But wifey made some a nice cushion that stands up against the front wall and I automatically sit slightly to the side and its now a non-issue for me.
